Ron Franklin and Todd Blackledge would be a great tandem

My dream team would be Fowler calling PbP, with both Danielson and Blackledge doing color.

Ron Franklin is the best there is. Knowledgeable and unbiased.

Danielson is good unless there is a Heisman level player in the game. Then he goes into hyperbole. Cam Newton >>> Bo Jackson. Tim Tebow, greatest ever (til Cam Newton). Maybe it is because LSU has never had that but it is really annoying to listen too. And not only when he is gashing your defense. I hated watching CBS during the Tebow era when Florida was on, regardless of the opponent. Even when they were playing Auburn or Bama and I was rooting for them, it was unbearable.

Todd Blackledge is really good too, BTW

All I can say is this: On Sunday AM, the CBS execs in NY pointed to this game and said " this is why we have a lucrative contract with the SEC"......

I agree with the "Mike the Linebacker". Ron Franklin is the best in the business..

I mean if you got to watch LSU practice like danielson im sure you could've called the 2 point conversion play and have a lot of insight into what is going on. College teams only have so much time to practice if you see what they do there your going to know what they will do in the game. It aint rocket science.

I have never gotten over the call he made when Ali Highsmith hit Tim Tebow inbounds and even after seeing the replay danielson says "your not gonna get away with that"

They need to get this guy into College football, by far the most entertaining commentator in sports.

I'm sorry, I guess I am in the minority, but to me Gary Danielson comes across as a pompous dick..now I do think he's knowledgeable, it just seems that he has this irritating, condescending tone in everything he says..

I have to agree that Danielson is top tier. He breaks things down faster than anyone out there and is usually dead on. Verne is not that bright and is just a play by play guy but Danielson knows the game.

first off verne gets excited over the dumbest things...every play he says "wow" and each time says it has a different inflection...and he never gets anyone right on the first play

"that was ron brooks with the 7 yards run...err excuse me that was steven ridley"

danielson is terrible, he analyzes everything instead of just calling the game...we are on 3rd down and he is talking about the previous 1st down...he was also doggin jj the whole bama game...danielson seems like the guy who never played football but had a close friend who did play football so he thinks he knows it all

anyway maybe i dont like either one cuz they think lsu is overrated...probably the same reason i dislike jessie palmer...either way

Put me down as hating them both. Verne is clueless and fumbles his words continuously. Danielson pretty much repeatedly states the obvious. Maybe if GD was with someone other than Vern I would like him more, but I can't stand to listen to them.

I'm not sure what is more scary - Verne's game calls or his 4 chins.

Danielson not bias? come on!! he jumps on whatever team bandwagon that's winning. if you ever record a game that the team in the first half was losing and is now winning in the second, rewind and listen to his conflicting comments. i mean he's not as bad as Madden as far as overall commentary, but he was an average QB and def below average commentator.

Agree (grudgingly). When you watch the replay and hear Danielson setting it up, it's almost like he knows what's coming. He's sharp but he's also got two of three of the best spotters in the business working with him.

I disagree wholeheartedly. I think that the whole CBS coverage is second rate at best, including an over-the-hill play by play announcer and a color commentator that gets it wrong too often.

Case in point was their atrocious commentary on LSU's delay of game penalty on Saturday. They were so ready to report that the fans were booing Miles that they forgot to pay attention to the game.

Another thing about CBS that bothers me: if you look closely, their instant replay is not in HD, which shows they're cheapos too.

They are both idiots! When the stadium booed! The one time we booed Saturday was because of the refs spotting the ball w/ 5 seconds left on the clock. They said we were booing Les and the Team, when we were booing the refs for their stupidity! These guys know nothing!
