What's some good books that you've read?
Autobiographies, biographies, etc.

i'm about to make an Amazon order and looking for some recommendations.

"Bootleggers Boy". Its about Barry Switzer and the Oklahoma football program in the 70's and 80's.

Charles Thompsons book about OK football was a good read also.

I read the Pistol book about a month ago.
it starts off slow, but gets really good.

I've also read The Jordan Rules too... but about a decade ago. I may read that one again.

If you like recruiting, particularly football, Meat Market by Bruce Feldman.

If you like international writing or soccer, the Miracle of Castel di Sangro by Joe McGiniss.

If you like basketball, the 1970s, or New York City, Heave is a Playground by Rick Telander.

If you like baseball, math, sabremetrics, etc., Moneyball by Michael Lewis.

If you're into soccer one of my faveourites is She Stood There Laughing by Steven Foster. It's an autobiographical style look at a fans experience of following his club, Stoke City, for a season. It covers issues like incompetence in the board room and fan culture, but it's a fairly light read.

Also, You're Ok It's Just a Bruise, is a book by a former Oakland Raiders team doctor about his time at the team, again fairly light but quite interesting. Should be pretty cheap on Amazon.

Baseball: The Yankee Years, The Bad Guys Won (86' Mets), Moneyball, The Bronx Zoo (70's Yanks), Ball Four, Now I can Die in Peace (04' Sawx)

Football: When Pride Still Mattered (Vince Lombardi), Meat on the Hoof (UT Football in the Royal years), It Never Rains in Tiger Stadium (if you are an LSU guy)

Basketball: Pistol

thanks for all the recommendations.
I added pretty much all of those to my Amazon wishlist. Most were under $1.

In the last few months, i've read:

The GM - a book about New York Giants former GM, Ernie Acorsi and his last year as GM. Very good book!

The Pistol - The Life of Pete Maravich. Very good book, starts off slow, but gets very interesting.

Jerry Tarkanian - Runnin' Rebel by Dan Wetzel - AWESOME book! probably the best of the bunch. i highly recommend it if you're interested in basketball, coaching, and or recruiting.

Tiger in a Lion's Den - Dale Brown. Not as good as the Tarkanian book, but still very good... especially for LSU fans.

The Draft by Pete Williams - a book about cut throat recruiting by NFL agents leading up to the draft. The book sucks. its not well organized. its hard to keep track of the assload of agents they talk about. I quit after about 5 chapters.

One Moment Changes Everything - pretty good book about the life of Don Rogers. Rogers is a former UCLA Bruin / Cleveland Brown who died of heart failure on his wedding day after using cocaine... a week after Len Bias. A great story, but a pretty good book.

Chair Shots and Other Obstacles - Bobby "The Brain" Heenan. ehhh, I love Bobby Heenan, but I didn't really like the book. Its more about life lessons than wrestling. ...which i knew from the description, but i just figured it would be better.

No Ordinary Joe - Joe Calzaghe autobiography. Good book. I'm a huge boxing fan. I never liked Calzaghe until i read the book.

Drive - Larry Bird autobiography. Interesting book, but Larry Bird isn't a great writer. overall, i liked it.

Out of Bounds - Inside the NBA's Culture of Rape, Violence, and Crime. this book was just plain crap.

Next up, "Something In The Air"
American Passion and Defiance in the 1968 Mexico City Olympics.

The bellicheck book is good, making of a coach I think it's called. The best football book as far as knowledge and organization is the bill Walsh book, finding the winning edge. Another bio is the genius about walsh.
