How long til Pat Riley takes over the Heat?

If they start the season slow and are ~ 10-10 through 20 games, does he freak out and make himself coach?

He will take over next season after the Heat lose to the Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals. The Heat just do not have the depth or size to beat the Celtics this yearam

I think they start off slow which isn't a big deal or surprise. I do think they'll eventually get it going though; I'm just wondering if Pat Riley would freak out mid season.

The Heat will end up losing between 9 and 17 games IMO. Most of those will come early in the season while they are "gelling". Winning in Boston is tough for anyone, but for a team on opening night that has had 3 minutes together it is pretty much impossible IMO. and they still were right there in the end. I think the Heat will win the NBA title and I still think they win 73 games. They played like shite last night AT BOSTON and still almost pulled it off. They will be special. If they somehow do start off 10 and 10 or whatever....... yes Riley will freak out and probably take over, but I don't think it will happen.

I don't know if they win this year, but I do think they'll win one together. They have to figure something out with their 1 and 5 spots.

They might win the title, but you are out of your damn mind to think they will go 73-8 from this point forward.

It's much more likely that Riley will stay with Spoelstra for the entire season no matter what and if it doesn't work out, he'll go after Doc Rivers next year. Rivers lives in the Florida area and has contemplated retirement many times because Boston is so far away from where his family lives. That won't be a problem if he takes a job with the Heat.

Boston had great D, I didn't mean to discount that. I thought it was very good for the heat to pull that game within 3 with under 30 seconds to go

Here is my thing with them. There are only 8 to 10 teams that can even beat this heat team when they are playing like shite. They are going to win 65 plus and I still think they pull off 73. They will have a crazy win streak at some point this year.

Once he realizes the Heat have a legit shot at the title, he is going to fire the coach, take over and coach another them to a championship.

Heat will lose 25 games at the most, however the Mike Miller injury is a huge blow to them.

Sad thing is, they still don't match up well with the Lakers front.

You can bet that Spoelstra is only a proxy coach, and even so, Riley views him as the Plato to his Socrates.
If Giorgio Armani calls up Pat and tells him that Erik isn't sufficiently modeling his suits, though, Riley will probably step in.

If he wants good suits, he should hire Byron Scott.
