Cam would get the ball, step back and just pause for a second, that would just freeze our linebackers and off the races he went.

We never hit him at all.

Cam has been great throwing the ball against blitzes. Run blitzes would have been nice though...

Blitz him and he breaks one tackle or makes one man miss at the point of attack and he runs for a TD because there is noone behind him.

LSU tried to contain him and gang tackle him when he ran.

He was just better than us.

We needed more men coming up, that's for sure.

Out of Auburn's last 27 plays of the game, 26 of them were runs, the only exception being an incomplete pass on 4th and 6 at the LSU 40.

Your question kind of makes me think of this, I don't know why.

Thanks for the explanation, Coach Chavis.

Uh, one question. When did LSU "gang-tackle" or blitz him?

Everybody knows that the best way to gang tackle and contain is by putting 5 DBs 25 yards off the line of scrimmage.

Could gang tackle him because noone was ever able to get their hands on him.

He either juked them, trucked them or just ran by them.

He was just better than our defense. Its that simple

This will be done when Alabama plays them and we will be asking, "Why didn't LSU do that?"

Newton doesn't run for more than 100 yards vs Bama. Book it.

Cam has thrown for 8 TD's and 0 pics against the blitz, I believe his completion percentage was around 80%(+).

I am surprised on the other hand that Chavis didn't blitz more against the run. Your LB's are good enough to blow up the read option in the backfield.

I don't accept that, at all. We have athletes on defense that can run to the ball, at least on our DL, and in our secondary.

If our scheme is not putting those athletes in position to make plays, it's a fundamental flaw in our scheme. Yes, we missed tackles on a great athlete, who "beat" us. AU deserved to win.

Not the point. We weren't prepared for what was obviously going to be thrown at us... we didn't prepare or adjust.

Agree, you have to stop Cam in the backfield. when he starts forward, his momentum, and size/strength, are too much(everyone glances off). Our coaches just shite a brick on this one.

No. It's really not. Any average SEC running back should be able to juke defenders and break a few tackles in open space.

The problem is not missing tackles in open space, because every football defense on the planet will do that. Open space is an advantage for the runner. It's what the entire strategy for an offense is geared around obtaining.

The whole point is that AU beat us with superior numbers and strategy, so that their runners had all the space in the world to run to, and LSU was left chasing them.

Isn't that what we wanted? For them to throw 60+ times? I think he may have thrown some nice passes but it would have caught up to him an Peterson and Claiborne would have been there to capitalize

Look at Jeff's pics. We couldn't blitz past their OL. We were dominated up front.
