Lets hope. They have really gone down hill from the glory years of the late 90's early 2000's. I havent been to a game in probably 6 or 7 years.

I havent really followed Pevetos progress either.

Funny story after the troy victory that year we tore down the stuck-in-cement goalposts. After the mcneese game the field was rushed and my track friends begged not to tear them down because they wouldnt have a track season, as the athletic department wouldnt be able to afford it.

Easily the best turn out of any in-state school, ever.

Outstanding. Terrific fans.

This and this. I'd guess over 10K, and a great atmosphere from them all around.

I hope it's not the last time they play in Tiger Stadium.

LSU and MSU probably are the only two fan bases that root for each other and have the least animosity towards each other than any other two colleges in the country!

Very insightful observation from a lesisbesian!

I have always wanted to see 2 lesisbesians together!

there was a group of about 12-15 of them probably around late 40's tailgating with other lsu fans next to us. they were great. had lots of fun with them as they were trying to keep up with the drinking games at our tailgate

I left early with my young daughter in the 3rd qtr. Saw way to many McNeese fans leaving as well.

Keep in mind that it was 16-10 at the time and that they would probably never get a chance to play LSU in Tiger Stadium again.

Nice people but that was strange to me.

Impressive turnout. While I'm still not someone who feels LSU should be obligated to play in-state schools for our rent-a-wins, if we're going to play them, they need to at least sell out their ticket allotment. The showing by McNeese fans is quite refreshing after having Tulane and U-LaLa send unsold tickets back to LSU athletic department year after year.

I went to McNeese St and LSU and am loyal to both. It was a special treat to watch the game. I will always pull for my Cowboys and my Tigers. Like someone said in another post I was happy McNeese played so well but was just as happt LSU won. McNeese is a class act school compared to those whiney lil bitches in Lafayette ULL or USL or whatever they want to be called.

I've never felt that you guys should be required to play anybody. The nearly 7 million dollars in direct institutional support that USL gets from the state legislature every year is quite enough. If they can't make it with that, they don't need to field a football team. Our direct instutional support is roughly 3 million dollars, an despite having 22 fewer scholarshipss and 4 million less in direct institutional support, we manage to kick the shite out of USL and score a touchdown against you guys, taking a lead, something they've managed NEVER to do in 108 years of football and 22 attempts ;)

But, having said that, IF you're gonna play an FCS school, I really hope it's us. It was kinda disconcerting for LSU to pay App State narly $1 million dollars over the last few years to come play at Tiger Stadium.

Ordinarily, we compete with them on the national FCS stage. We understand that you're not like USL and that Tiger Football is totally self supporting. It's your money and you've got a right to play whomever you want. We just have a minor request and that's that when you schedule FCS schools, we'd appreciate it if you don't subsidize the folks we're trying to win a national title against ;)

With our total budget of $6 million dollars, a million dollar payday for two trips to Baton Rouge is huge! ;)

From an economic standpoing, this was a profitable game for you guys. You paid us $405 K, but we sold 6k worth of tickets ($240K in LC) and - depending on your estimate - we picked up another 3 to 4,000 tickets through BR sources. That's about $400,000.00 in total ticket sales, or - in other words - we paid our way.

If the official attendance is right (and using $40.00 per ticket for ease of calculation) you guys had roughly $3.6 million in ticket sales revenue. If there had been returned tickets and large blocks of tickets that didn't get sold, the revenue would have been less....and, instead of having to pay $400k out of $3.1 or $3.2 in ticket sales, you paid it out of $3.6, AND, we sold tickets in an amount equal to what you paid us.

From a bean counting perspective, you pretty much got this game for free ;)

I go the opposite way. Especially after the fantastic turnout by the Cowboy fans. I think you've formed your opinion based on U-La-La and La. Tech fan bases. McNeese State is in a different league as far as fans go.

I think we got as many Cowboy fans as we did Mississippi State fans. And maybe as many Ole Miss fans as we'll see later on.

Playing McNeese State is a win-win for both schools.

It was impressive IMO. LSU and BR must be happy with the turnout.
