Nope, not Jericho. Sorry.

I wouldn't claim to be him. Were you there when he was?

I ran track for a year at McNeese, and spent my first two years of college at McNeese. Probably have seen more Cowboy games, since i grew up closer to LC than BR. Nice to see them show up (fans and team), BUT I ooze Purple and Gold and my degree says LSU! I got to Tiger Bait some of my extended family for this one!!

It was cool to go to the game and be able to enjoy good play from both teams. There were way more than 10K people there in McNeese colors from where I sat. (Not stadium club)

Mcneese was well represented. I thought the touchdown cheer where yall sway and clap was alright- kinda ghey kinda cool. But there were a few of Lake Charles finest around me that didnt know how to handle there liqour nor did they realize that talking trash in the LSU section wouldnt go over well. but other than that, glad some louisianians that normally would never make it into TS could

Jericho came in as a freshman my senior year and redshirted, then he lettered for the next four years. According to the media guide, he's the only Loupe who's ever lettered at McNeese.

Of course, he played at the tail end of the McCann years and during the Sonny Jackson 2-9 debacles in the late 80's... so I could see why he'd rather pull for LSU than a school he played for. It was TOUGH to be a Cowboy then ;)

You probably couldn't hear it, but the band plays a version of the "Cajun National Anthem" Jolie Blonde, anytime we score a TD. If the Band's not there, we've got a guy named Andre who can play it on his duck call ;)

The folks in our conference HATE that song and the swaying and dance thing.

Of couse, our version of Jolie Blonde has a nice flourish at the beginning. We slapped an intro from the opera Pagliacci on it and voila! Instant "class" ;)

i saw 4 people painted blue wearing mcneese clothes in the upper deck stand up and cheer when lsu scored. Prob one of those games where you want your team to score and look good, but for the greater good you want lsu to win so they can accomplish better things

That is exactly right!!!!!!!! LSU and MSU probably are the only two fan bases that root for each other and have the least animosity towards each other than any other two colleges in the country! I know I always want MSU to win and was glade that they got to be ahead of LSU for a little while, but by no means did I want them to beat us!

My condolences. That was the WORST possible time to be a Cowboy. Sonny Jackson's a good man, but he didn't understand McNeese at all. He came in and changed pretty much every single tradition we had...tried to reinvent the wheel. Great offensive mind, but...we had power football personnel when he got there and he tried to run a west-coast style offense...not a smart move ;)

Agreed. Tony Citizen was a beast and never really got to show it.

Scooter Hobbs article Sunday said "McNeese did in 4 minutes what ULL hasn't done for 100 years....score at TD in Tiger Stadium"... (something to that effect)

Plus some people who are fans of both wore blue just to be supportive. I saw hundreds of people wearing Blue shirts and LSU hats, or vice-versa...some wore "House Divided" shirts that were half McNeese/half LSU.

Saw plenty of this and found the McNeese fans to be pretty cool. Everyone just seemd to be hoping for a good game.

The fans should be proud of the team and vise-versa.

Clarification: When I said I wouldn't claim to be Jericho it was out of respect. Dude could flat out play. It was not meant in a disparaging tone.

If you look at my name, i can attest to having heard jolie blonde many times. Except for 99 or 2000 when we decided to knock off mcneese and troy then lose and not even make the playoffs

Tony was a beast the first day he set foot on campus...McCann redshirted him that year, but, man - after he first scrimmage - the offensive line was BEGGING McCann to burn the shirt that year...We'd lost Buford Jordan's little brother, Simon (1000 yard rusher, All SLC, All Louisiana), to a car accident before the season started.

We knocked off Arkansas State, who was ranked number 1 in 1-AA that year, but finished second in conference. With Citizen, we'd have won it..

I still remember getting pissed off while watching him rush for 305 yards in the season opener the following year ;)

I think after the UCA win, NSU's turned the corner to a large degree. I think you guys will be exponentially better next year...

I think your fans will have a great time in Baton Rouge...with all that Purple, you'll blend ;)

Easily the best turn out of any in-state school, ever.

And the most classy to boot. And that's not necessarily a dig at any of the other in-state schools.

McNeese State fans are just that good, period.
