Yes, junior Jordan Jefferson is going to get the start again this week when LSU takes on McNeese State. (What a time for a break from the SEC schedule. Les Miles is on a roll!) And it's likely that Jefferson will be the starter all season, as Miles has said he would be.

Turns out there's a reason for that other than plain loyalty. Junior Jarrett Lee has no issues with coming off the bench, and Miles said that the setup may benefit Lee.

"One thing that Lee does is he studies what's going on and even though he's not taking the snaps, he understands what's being done and how it's being attacked and what the defense is doing," Miles said. "I think it makes a difference to him when he comes in the game that he's informed."

I wonder if the NFL will draft JL in a couple of years and pick up JJ so they can do the same, its obviously an ingenious method.

I have no issue with JJ starting, that is the biggest misconception in sports. "Starter" just means first to take the field. I can handle JL coming in off the bench, but he should get the most snaps, by a mile.

The Saints should do this, they should let Drew watch from the sidelines for a few drives to see the defense, because QBs can never look at defenses and make adjustments while playing. If the Saints did that, they would probably be 5-0 right now.

It was not mentioned that it was a permanent arrangement .

Lee was booed at Tiger Statium and forced to make way to JJ in 2008. He didn't play (other than LaTech) any meaningful game till UT.

It could well be that this technique might be in place for a few more games till he gets his full confidence back.

Maybe JJ does have a fragile ego and since we have only 2 QBs on scholarship, they are ensuring that he gets some snaps.

RS hasn't thrown a snap yet and I don't know why but the staff will not use him as a QB leave alone an every play QB. For that matter Texas didn't offer him as a QB either.

So the coddling has to go on, because god forbid something happen to Lee and we find JJ curled up in the corner , we are totally screwed.

Damnit. WHAT WILL IT TAKE!???

Maybe JJ will go 3 and out with the game on the line then JL will drive us down at the end of the game to win it. Wait, that just happened.

Let's just keep starting the one who the whole world thinks shouldn't be on the field. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

So we should take some 3 and outs with JJ and put ourselves in a position to lose so JJ can keep his confidence instead of playing the best player. Got it.

I've said this for weeks. He's Manu Ginobili. If that is what works best, work it.

WTF! - it is not as though I want JJ to start

I am just trying to figure out why is it that JL doesn't play!

I think this might be the situation.

Do we like it - no.

Miles might be thinking that it is a small price to pay (given that we have a very decent offense otherwise with JL) to keep JJ happy.

So what happens when we don't have that luxury (of risking 3 and outs - against the better teams).

I hope that Lee can take over after McNeese and stay healthy and injury-safe throughout the season.

As opposed to Jefferson at 100% self-esteem, who will lead us to 10 offensive PPG? Give Lee all of the snaps until the game is out of hand, then let Jefferson play.

why do sooo many of these negajj terds want to repeat what they did to lee in 08????
soon they will boo jj. negaterds just have to boo someone.
booing is learned behavior. their parents would boo them, so they boo others.

the system is working great. We could of smashed florida but take away a muffed put and the interception and we still do.

There will be time when JJ is not playing well or a different approch (jj and option) would attack the defense better on that particular weekend.

Whatever. If Lee's that studious, I'm sure the game film prepares him pretty well for action. I just wonder how many points we left on the field at Gainsville in an effort to make sure Jefferson got most of the series'.

It is all about keeping the chemistry together. This team is winning because there is no/very little, dissension, very fine line to maintain.

Man, I just disagree with this. Defenses play JLee differently than JJ. How the hell is JLee watching safeties play 8 yards off the ball when JJ is in the game going to help JLee come in and play against defenses playing him straight up?

I disagree with the logic - study is study.

If your logic works - then why would coaches study films of games played by opponents against other teams.
We have different sets of players, different skills - so why would it matter?

For e.g. what do we gain by watching how SCar beat Bama. We don't have the same kind of personnel and our strengths are not the same as theirs?

But I agree with you on JL starting - I don't know how helpful it is for him to watch one series from the sidelines - except that maybe Les is planning to ease him into the starter role by Auburn and just giving him more and more snaps gradually.
