The option JJ ran before the clock issue was a good call-number 72 missed the block on the linebacker-number 56 and he made a great play....if he is blocked-JJ scores-watch the replay.

I don't think anybody has argued it was a bad call. I liked the call, it just wasn't there.

But trying to change personnel immediately after it didn't work! That's unacceptable, inexcusable, and just plain dumb. Either spiked the ball or call a play at the line with the people you already have.

You sir are very correct-I was just making an observation-it was a good play by their linebacker and our lineman sort of wiffed at him

72 whiffed on quite a few blocks Saturday.

The play wasn't a bad call, but not having a second play called when JJ took the field was a bad bad call. You are dealing with precious seconds and the bafoons acted like they had minutes.

We actually ran an effective 2 minute, forcing TN to call a timeout for defensive purposes....then shot ourselves right square in the foot.

i honestly think les and crew thought that play was a sure bet and a 2nd play wasn't necessary!

It wasn't the call that was the problem... It was the fact that he had nothing prepared if that play wasn't successful

We had 2 options:

1. Run the ball twice then spike it on 3rd down if we don't score. Still have 4th down.

2. After the run with JJ spike the ball, Still have 2 downs but we need to throw on both.

Why 2-3 plays were not called is a complete joke considering the money our coaches make...

JJ had the whole right side open for a touchdown. Could have walked in but he cut into the defenders.

i have argued it was a bad call and i still think it is. it seems like someone on the right side always misses theri block. our left side is considerably better at run blocking (and strangely our right side is better at pass blocking) and to prove it chart our runs left vs right. we should have run Ridley over barksdale and done it twice if necessary. no gimmicks; smash mouth football.

Looked more like a QB sweep than an option. If it was an option, he could've pitched for the TD.

Not quite. #43 made the play. He drove Peterson into the backfield (would be nice to have a TE that could also block) forcing JJ to cut inside, then 56 made the play by wrapping his legs. 72 was still engaged with their 55. Faulk had a nice pancake in the endzone, and Ridley's guy could not have made the play.
Still not a bad call, but I think Ridley is capable of shucking a couple of those guys, as he later showed. So what if the whole building knows he's going to get it.

If JJ hadn't cut up the field, he would have scored.

High school coaches and QB's have enough sense to do this, apparently ours don't.
