After the astounding last 30 seconds of the game yesterday, and the subsequent avalanche of negative press and media attention Miles got, I think Alleva could fire Miles with any single digit win record this year and not have any flak for it.

Even if we go 9-3, there won't be a reporter or sportscaster in this country who will go to bat for Miles after what's gone down.

Uh, think again negaTiger.

Firing a coach for a 9-3 season is absolutely ridiculous. LSU really will be the laughing stock of the national media if they fire Les for only winning 9 games.

But how do you pay the remainder of Les's contract and still afford to get a coach of SEC quality?

au contraire... they will respect LSU for doing the hard and smart and necessary thing.

LSU already is the laughing stock of the national media...THANKS to Les Miles.

I'd rather them laugh at us with a new coach than have them laugh at us with Les Miles.

Yeah - in fact I believe that LSU administration will definitely hire another high profile coach (after paying the Miles buyout) and pay him the requisite amount in the $3-4 million range!

Our only hope is to pray that the offense clicks and everything turns out to be well because the school has shown no desire/ability to hire top tier coaches or fire them when things go bad (not just in football).

Wake up man, they don't give a rat about 'going to bat' for Miles or LSU. They care about ratings and controversy = higher ratings.

Crazy fans, over demanding AD "fire winningest coach in School's History after a (8,9,10 whatever) season just three years after a National Title" would be major controversy.

Look how they drug Nebraska through the mud and Solich had character issues and ran a dirty program, didn't hear any of that, it was all how delusional the AD and Fans were.

No they won't. People know that LSU got completely lucky to stop UNC at the goalline. People know that LSU got once in a lifetime lucky to beat Tennessee after the worst coaching blunder of 30 seconds in the history of football. People know that this isn't Les Miles first time to screw up the 2 minute drill when his team was in scoring position.

I really think the national media will agree 100%.

In what universe is it necessary to fire a coach for winning 9 games???

As I said previously, LSU will be the laughing stock of the national media for firing a coach for winning 9 football games. The fact that you think such an action will be lauded shows just how delusional the TigerDroppings crowd is.

Not true stupid. Pick up any magazine, read any blog or commentary. They laugh at Les Miles right now. He isn't respected as a coach at all. Everyone knows he does not have this program headed in the right direction, except you it seems. And that my friend is why you are stupid.

Yes and they got EXCORIATED for months by the National Media, all through the new coach search and AT LEAST SIX of their 'top choices' - including the Old Ball Coach who choose south carolina over the mighty Corn Huskers - turned them down because most thought the fans and AD were CRAZY, they settled for Callahan who quickly turned a good program into a dysfunctional pee-wee team.

Remember a couple of years ago when the vaunted black shirts where giving up 70 points a game?

LSU fans are going to have a RUDE awakening after this year if the 'fire the idiot' crowd gets its way.

Who is going to pay Les's buy-out to fire him? With an already highly-ranked class coming next year?

LSU is having entire programs cut from the budget. I have a hard time seeing the buy out and hiring of another high-level coach.

What is Curly doing these days? He might be affordable.

False. Other coaches will not shy away from the LSU job. They have seen what it can be. They will all think, "If Les Miles can win there, I know I can." I promise you that Les Miles is not well respected in the college coaching circles. Even the NFL analyst are commenting on how bad he is, and they almost never talk college football.

Let's see we could be ridiculed for firing a 9 win coach, but we are being ridiculed for mismanaging a situation that any peewee football team coached by anyone with a pulse could manage. I'm not too sure I'd worry about the possible ridicule when I'm certain about the current ridicule.

Define "right direction"?

I'd say being 5 and 0 heading into the middle of October is quite an accomplishment. And indicative of a team moving in the right direction.

I'd also say that doubling your offensive numbers in the previous game indicates an upward trend (in case you missed it we had 434 yards of total offense as opposed to 230 yards the previous week).

But I'm also a partisan LSU fan, and as such I support the head coach and I do not root against my alma mater. Maybe if I was a pessimistic and negative Tiger fan I would be able to understand the inherent logic in firing the winningest coach in LSU history.

This part is making me

That's like saying the Team X is in great shape because they doubled their win total this year. Last year they went 1-11, this year they went 2-10.
