“The necessity of the run that we like as opposed to just a run or an advantage in play to just a play,” Miles said cryptically to explain the personnel change in that situation.

WTF?

He's trying to justify the package at the end of the game where they ran JJ back out there.

It appears as though he is saying that 50% of their plays are called for no particular reason other than... well, they know they must run one.

Chess players move each piece in their heads long before the actual move is made. That statement leads me to believe he is not a very good game planner.

He is explaining the thought process of changing personnel at the end of the game. The advantage of running a play that they think can put points on the board as opposed to just running a play to run a play. I want Miles gone just as much as the next guy, but the last thing we need to be worried about is the mans public speaking deficiencies. We have much bigger issues at hand. Im tired of coming on here and having to wade through the bullshite "Miles said something stupid" threads. Just because you arent smart enough to figure out what he is trying to say doesnt mean he didnt say something relevant.

He has been here for 6 fricking years. Its time to accept that he just doesnt know how to make his point clearly sometimes. Everyone needs to get over the Miles-speak bullshite.

I can see it... the clock is running down...

Miles to Crowton via the headset: "The necessity of the run that we like as opposed to just a run or an advantage in play to just a play."

Crowton: "Huh?????"

Ahh bullshite, THE NORMAL thing we hear from blockhead is some foolish jibberish shite that absolutely makes NO sense, even though you sunshine pumpers think you and everyone else should easily understand it! Miles has no clue and EVERONE can see that, and he seriously has some mental problem, but LSU has the biggest problem because we are on the hook for millions with this clown, and he is an enmbarrasment a minute for LSU, and noone can deny that! He is a laughing stock, and it makes LSU look so foolish. I could give a shite about the misleading as HELL 5-0 record, and completely overblown ranking. Starting next week lets see how many people on here that love and support Elmer Fudd will be bragging about record and ranking, and then especially after Bama, Auburn, Ole Miss, and Arkansas!

It's why he has no credibility. To say "get over it" is akin to Baghdad Bob saying there are no U.S. troops in Iraq. At the point of communication, he has no plan, no ability to devise a plan, and no execution of a plan. Therefore, it's the crux of the problem, if you can't see that you're just blind.

It makes perfect sense. The reporter was asking him why we were changing personnel, and Miles was saying that the reason was that they felt like they had an advantage running the plays they were calling from certain formations and personnel packages against what they were seeing in Tennessee's defense. They were trying to exploit any advantage they could get, to give our players the best chance at getting in the endzone and winning the game.

Agree. Others are too busy trying to bash rather than understand. Albeit difficult to understand listening to him, reading it made sense.

So youre telling me that the problem is Miles' lack of public speaking skills? Maybe we should hire Obama to coach for us. He cant coach football to save his life, but god damnit if his speaches arent as eloquent as can be. fricking morons on this site never cease to amaze me.

Miles my know what he is trying to say and it may make some valid point. If you are going to communicate well, then those you are talking to must be able to understand what you are saying. When you are in the midst of a battle, you need to be clear, lucid and concise. Miles is rambling and we have to think and try to figure out what he is really saying. The players are probably having a difficult time as well. Maybe why last seconds of games are such a mess.

Allow me to attempt this one guys...

Let's begin with "to just a run or an advantage in play." Obviously, this is referring to what would have happened without the absurd package substitution that the coaches sent into the game on 3rd and goal from the 1 with no timeouts and the clock running out.

It explains why the coaching staff did not want to run a play with the players who were already out on the field--if they would have done that, then LSU would have had an "advantage in play" over the Tennessee defense, even with "just a run," and Miles obviously did not like this. He felt that it would lack sportsmanship to take advantage of the situation against Tennessee, and so he did something stupid to be a good sport and give the Vols a fairer shot at preserving the win.

Which brings up the "The necessity of the run that we like" part. Here, Miles was simply asserting that it was a "necessity" to give the Vols a fairer shot at beating LSU, because he's such a good sport.

Any further questions on the meaning of this particular instance of Miles-speak?
