Booing Tiger players is not something that came in vogue in '08 and since. It was happening long before then.

For example, in '89 we started as pre-season #7. We lost our first two games to TA&M and FSU before defeating Ohio. In our 4th game of the season against UF, the venerable Tommy Hodson (who IMO is one of the very best QB's we ever had) threw at least two INT's. After the 2nd one, I recall him getting his share of "boos."

The moral of the story:

Keep booing, assholes, so we can start another 6 year streak of losing seasons. Because if you think you've got a lot to boo about now, you ain't seen nothing yet.

I don't countenance booing; just pointing out that JL and JJ are the last in a long line of illustrious QB's to get the boo treatment.

Wickersham heard his share from time-to-time in '84-'85. Heck, I can remember when Ensminger took over for Bobby Moreau and Pat Lyons in '76 and received a hero's welcome.

Boy I can't wait till we get a coach who's desperate enough to tolerate the douchebaggery of our fans!

Mac tolerated it for almost 20 years!

And yes -- LSU fans were just as fair weather back they as there are now. Only difference was no internet!

There was a punter/kicker back around 1981 or 82 somewhere in there, he was from Texas his name was Russell Erxlaiban (not sure about the spelling) he had set the High School records for the longest punt and longest fiekd goals. He did not get off to a great start and in Tiger Stadium he had missed 2 or 3 straight field gaols and while walking off the field was booed by the student section and he shot them the ! and that not happened only once but several times that year and at the end of the year left school.

Played for the University of Texas and the Saints ... not LSU. Are you referring to David Browndyke?

No, but Lewis, I think. I remember seeing the picture in the Advocate.

Edit: Yes, Ronnie Lewis. Got booed worse than any player ever imo. He missed a chip shot to beat Bama.

Sorry guys but it was Ronnie Lewis!

David Browndike and Russell was in a recruiting war back then and Browndyke cam to LSU and Russell went to Texas. Ronnie Lewis was here for two years and then he left. He was a redshirt freshman but that was as far as he went, the student section ran him off after that year. I'm sorry there is so much history I forget the time frames for these guys. LSU does not have a complete roster history in the late 70's and early 80's. but sorry.

Gave the one finger salute to the student section as well.

Actually, it was the double barrell

Funny thing was, after the game, coach was asked about it and said it never happened, because Ronnie Lewis' father was a preacher and he came from a good family. Said he was actually just trying to fire up the student section, but would never do such a thing.

Next morning, close up pic of Lewis with double barrel birds flying on front page of Morning Advocate, then Reveille Monday. Oooops.

Yessir and exhibit A concerning booing is not new at LSU these days. It's gonna happen and Lewis was targeted like no other player in history. I think the whole stadium rained down on him.

So we should be proud of that 'tradition'?

Don't think so!

If anyone near you starts BOOing, stand up and start chanting

"L.S.U., L.S.U., L.S.U."

Don't stop until the whole stadium is chanting

"L.S.U., L.S.U., L.S.U."

LSU fans are quickly becoming the joke many think Les Miles is; when he's gone we'll still be here.

Let's just hope we're not like Nebraska fans after they ran off Solich wondering why no decent coach would consider their 'great' opportunity!
