specks have arrived...finally.

nothing like getting into a school of specks

mouths of passes going into lake borgne. we caught fish at the mouth of chef and borgne. we caught some at the rigs in borgne. we caught a bunch on the north/northwest corner of lake catherine. we fished for hours and didnt catch a fish (we were tightlining plastics). dude pulls up next to us in the rigolets and proceeds to catch his limit in 30 mins using a popping cork.. needless to say, we switched and they turned on. we were using split tails (grub colored) about 2.5 ft under a popping cork. sometimes i would tip it with shrimp, but it wasnt needed. big fish too, not a single throwback...not one.

btw the best part was that we caught 0 catfish.

Can you give more info about where in the rigolets?


I went fishing yesterday for the first time this year. Launched at Dockside(by The Dock). Launch operator said specks were on at the mouth of Bayou Liberty hitting anything live. Went their first. Struck out... nothing.

Went back to the trestles and got one drum and a few nibbles.

Remembered a Frank Davis report from a few weeks back about the new bridge and hitting the stantions under the "hump". Headed over there and trolled the whole hump, hiutting both sides. Picked up 3 more drum and a nice 20" red.

I'd be greatful for any more tips you have to offer. I'd like to get on some specks.
