I've always drug does by the ears or with a noose around their neck. They slide better if you're not pulling against the grain of the fur. You dont have to deck out in camo in a box stand. Shirt, Jacket, Hat are all you NEED, but it doesn't really matter. I've hunted in blue jeans many times on my highline stands. Just spray down with scent eliminator. If you get your gun sighted in, put the crosshairs of the scope on the shoulder and squeeze the trigger. When skinning, it depends on whats available. If you live close by, I wouldnt see why it would be a problem for you to load it up and bring it home and get your BnL to help you. In all actuality, the odds of you seeing a deer are slim. Just go and enjoy the outdoors.
Thanks Demon. I'm going to watch as many youtube videos, hunting shows, read stuff online, and talk to people for the next month and a half.
I'll bump this thread when I go and let y'all know what kind of hunter y'all made out of me.

Did you buy a scope to put on the gun?
Nikon prostaff - guy at academy said it was good for $150

The sad thing is, if you kill, you're going to have to hold back your excitement since you're a "seasoned hunter"
This is going to be the hardest part I think

as a seasoned deer hunter, you'd think you wouldve put up for a nicer scope by now, but hey whatever, you're the pro

Bruh, this old thing is the gun i bring in the woods to get beat up. I have a bunch of brownings with leupolds on them at the house.
Now do you see why i'm in this predicament?

should be interesting
and you're gonna piss yourself holding in the excitement if you shoot your first deer

Hopefully you did not let him mount it. Buy a line level and a rifle vise.

Too late. He looked like he knew what he was doing for a 16 year old.

Why? I killed a buck last year at 425yds with that scope on a 30/06.

dont listen to these guys. seasoned hunters dont wear the best shite and shoot the best guns with the best scopes, posers do. Coot can prob back me up on this one. But they usually know how to clean a deer. just get fricked up in the stand and when you kill the deer and its time to clean it he will see that you are drunk and just think you fricked up cleaning it for those reeasons.

oh im not saying there's anything wrong with that particular scope
Im just saying that most hunters i know who have been hunting for 20 years or so have ponied up for really nice scopes at this point in their life or gotten them as gifts

last question:
Do I need to field dress it? I see videos online of people cleaning a deer field dressed and some arent.
If i have to field dress it, this throws a monkey wrench into my entire plan.

This thread is so full of the B.S. that it actually hurts.

Are people BS'ing with me?
I'm for real.

You should be fine. If you are lucky enough to shoot one, whatever you do, do not comment on the size of the deer. Not being a seasoned hunter you have no clue what a big deer looks like up close. FYI, deer with spots are not big deer.
Here is a picture of my first deer:
Here is my 2nd deer: (notice the bullet hole, that is general area to aim for)
Here is my 3rd deer: (again take note of the bullet hole)
This is a picture I took from inside a box blind that was sitting on the ground:
I hope this helps.

No way this would work. Sorry, your mouth wrote a check your arse can't cash here. He's probably just going to keep feeding you rope till you have to admit it.
Just don't shoot anything. You'll probably wound it and lose it and that will NOT make you look good. It will likely piss him off.

Just be honest with him
i didnt start hunting until about 6 years ago and I was honest with my buddies about how i wanted to get into it and they were very cool about teaching me everything i needed to know.
if you just tell him you were full of shite he'll prolly treat it as a teaching experience and you'll both have a lot of fun.
Im still learning tricks of the trade from my friends and they really enjoy teaching me shite just as much as i enjoy learning and asking questions
im sure you and this guy can have a similar experience, especially if you think you would like deer hunting and think you can get into it in the future, this would be the best way to go.
