If Lee were the only guy on the team, would Crowton still run the option play as much as we do because it is part of his 'package'?

Or would we go to a I formation, TE, slant routes, crossing patterns, bubble screens, play action, downfield-looks type of an offense?

Good question, he would probably still run the option because he believes it stretches the field horizontally and doesn't realize there are other ways to do this.

based on what happened two years ago

the 2nd group of plays you listed is the more correct answer.

I dont remember Lee even rolling out in an intended/planned movement of the pocket, to give him some time when Aub/Florida was in his face.

Yes. We ran the option with Lee quite a few times in 08 and I remember him running it against La Tech. I find it hilarious we've run the option with Lee and Jefferson, two QBs who can't run the option, yet we don't even try it with Shepard.

you guys are not understanding something. this isn't totally crowton's offense. he has the spread, one back set, multi wide principles. Les has the power I, two t.e., f.b. principles.

this worked in 2007 because you had a great f.b., a very good qb, and outstanding run blocking line with h. johnson and b. helms.

however, today, you have a spread wr coach, spread/zone blocking o-line coach, a spread o.c., and a I/pro-set h.c.

secondly, you have no full back, good but not dominate o-line, and less than stellar qb.

it's not a change in coaching. it's a change in players.

if crowton ran the offense. you would see one back set spread and lee would be slinging the ball all over the field. (maybe not to his team all the time but he would be passing).

This....that is why Jefferson is the starter...they feel he is more suited to run Crowten's offense. No more no less...

Well why dont we throw with J Lee and Run the option with JJ? We did some of that in 07. Flynn was basically the thrower, occasionally he would run the option. But RP would be brought in specifically to run the option, or qb draw. Let J Lee air it out, and bring JJ in to run the option. And maybe have him throw out of a roll out.

Gary Crowton is still running the offense, and that appears to be the main problem.

More suited? It doesn't matter who the QB is in Crowton's offense, he will continue to put them in bad situations, ruin their confidence, and make them look very bad.

I think our players are more suited for the pro-set (near) style offense, we are just missing a good FB.(God I miss Quinn Johnson)
This spread-option stuff ain't working
