I think what you're misinterpreting is that he said putting on muscle can stop the scale itself from going down. In that sense, it can cause stalls and slow 'weight loss'. It will, however expedite fat loss, which is the goal in the end anyway.

Yeah most people are focused solely on the # on the scale. I asked someone recently if they would rather lose 80 pds and be 20% bodyfat or lose 50 and be 10% . They said 80. When I asked them why they said they wanted to lose weight.
