started a diet in February and decided to try to lose 1 lb per week instead of 10-15 lbs per month. well, I am 32 lbs lighter and I can't tell you how easy it is.
I haven't really changed my eating habits other than cutting down a little on quantity.

everyone wants to get in a hurry. you see the commercials, "BETTY LOST 20 LBS THIS MONTH". screw that.....take your time. 1 lb per week is extremely easy. and, 52 lbs per year is very admirable.

It's easy to forget that you don't put on the weight overnight, so it won't come off overnight

And it is a hell of a lot easier to keep it off when you lose it in a reasonable manner and time frame.

So I'm moving my cheat days to every other Saturday now. It nearly wipes out all my progress on a week to week basis.
I'm getting big on the water thing but I have a question (silly it might be) but I'm doing an IF 8 hour eating window. Does that go for water as well? Does it have to be in those 8 hours or it can be whenever I want?

Yesterday was 261.2 so I'm up a pound from yesterday. My entire evening schedule was thrown off yesterday b/c of a trip to the dentist and having to go shopping for a dang baby shower in the office tomorrow that I found out about on Monday. It was almost 8pm by the time I got home and I'm usually eating my dessert at that time, not my dinner. I ended up eating dessert around 10pm just before bed. It probably wasn't a good idea to eat that late, but I wanted to make sure I got in all my calories like I'm supposed to.
I have to go to the gym tonight...luckily my legs aren't completely useless today like they were last week around this time.

No. Drink water all day. And coffee in the morning is fine even with some truvia.
Anecdote time: So I hadn't lifted in almost three weeks due to a bout with diverticulitis. Finally got back in the gym and busted arse yesterday morning. Needless to say I was starving all day and ate accordingly. Packed in about 3000 kcals. Got on the scale this morning and I was 3 lbs. heavier than in the last 5 days.
Did I gain 3 lbs by eating 3000 clean kcals in a day? Of course not. And I knew the scale would jump...but 3 fricking lbs? Anyway...I know I suggest weighing everyday because it keeps you honest. But at the same time don't get discouraged when you see gains like this.

This is my biggest thing right now...trying to constantly remind myself that no matter how much it sucks, our bodies fluctuate with weight from a day to day basis. That pound difference from yesterday to today isn't because I ate more than I should have or because I ate my dessert at 10pm, but just because...human body at work?

Been eating pretty clean (but a lot) for the last few weeks while training. Running a half marathon on Sunday morning, so this Saturday will be the first sober Saturday for me since... since I can remember. I will be carb loading, though, and indulging in quite a few beers once I cross that finish line Sunday morning.

Exactly. Even if I ate the 10,500 kcals necessary to gain three pounds in a day...my body would have simply passed most of it.
Daily weighing is good for those on a mission like me. But you can't obsess over the day to day. Just use it to look at the overall trends.

If you log your daily weight onto myfitnesspal you can easily check the reports on how you're trending weekly, monthly, quarterly etc.

I do. Along with every freaking bite of food I've had in the last two months!

Geez. I tried logging food but it's just too much for me. I just wing it day to day with my current regiment of quest bars, water, coffee, chicken and brisket sandwiches and an occasional salad and banana here or there. I just log the weight in my target weight app and watch the trend.

It's the only way to really know what you are eating. After a couple of months you don't need to anymore as you become acutely aware of hidden calories and the like.

shite, I've been at it for almost 3 years and it still surprises me from time to time. I don't log very much anymore, but for my first year or so I logged EVERYTHING.

eat the same thing everyday. If you're serious about it, its not that hard
Or at least have a rotation of 3-4 meals at breakfast/lunch/dinner that you know will fit in you calorie goal for the day. Or carbs. Or whatever you are counting
A routine is boring, but it is effective.

Over 2 yrs in, I no longer log each bite because I'm in maintenance. the 5and2 has helped me know how to be hungry and not eat. The daily scale and progress reports on myf are proof in the Putta. Oh and I drink water.
