Don't get me wrong, I like Rivers.

But I am not counting on him doing anything for a couple of years.

Pretty much. I'd love to be pleasantly surprised though. Please.

does he suffer from the same "savior" complex that Booty did? Fans thought J.Booty was going to come in solve all of our problems and win Championships....If this kid commits and enrolls in Jan. you can expect rantards chomping at the bit for him to get into the bowl game.... lets keep expectations low for this kid.

Its hard to even compare him with Booty..People at the time thought he was the best High School quarterback ever or atleast second to Jeff George.. That alone brought the high expectations.

I agree. However expectations for Mettenberger if he commits will be sky high. The reason being is the fan base desperation for a quarterback, with mindset of "now all the pieces are in place".For the kids sake I hope we don't just think he will come in an the offense averages 500 yards a game.

I would rather see Mike Leach become the OC, but expect him to get a head coaching position somewhere instead. About Mettenberger, he has always played well--was beating out Murray at Ga. before he had to leave. I think he would enjoy the pressure & challenge of being the Tigers' QB, & I doubt many would see him as the only one who could be the savior of the LSU offense. But first things first--let's get him here!

Mike Leach as our OC would be impossible. How in the hell would him and Miles co-exist?

Miles has chased out his fair share of coaches recently

This has probably been discussed elsewhere, so excuse that I haven't been reading many posts recently. But what about the guy's off field problems. Is that no concern? I don't know what happened, but is LSU taking a risk with the guy?

Also, if he is highly recruited, then I have to believe he would have to be told he has a very high chance of playing and starting next year, or he would not consider LSU. He knows he only has two years anywhere he goes and has to have those assurances. JMHO.

My goodness, these are 18-22 year olds, and things will happen--e.g., T-Bob, earlier in the summer. A number of schools are starting to show interest in Mettenberger so I don't think that's a big concern. I would hate to see him be a star somewhere else, when he wants to play SEC football. We are recruiting athletes, not Boy Scouts.
