What was the answer to Buddy Songy's question that Les Miles is the only coach to do [what?] in the SEC? Today's show.

Saban's beaten at least 6 that I can think of off the top of my head: Miles, Myer, Fulmer, Stoops, Spurrier, and Paterno.

Beat Florida, Alabama, and Auburn in the same season?

Per lsusports.net
New question:
Who are the nine coaches?
quote:
In addition to his 51 victories, some other notable accomplishments during his first five years with the Tigers include: only coach in LSU history to beat Auburn, Florida and Alabama in same season - and he's done it twice; only first-year coach in SEC history to lead team to league's title game; nine wins over coaches who have won national titles; and the only coach in LSU history to lead Tigers to three-straight top-five final rankings.

Ask "where is my wife?" while playing Tennessee ...

The answer was that he was the only SEC first year coach to take his team to the SEC championship game

I don't think that means there were nine different coaches, but nine victories over coaches who have won the national title.

It's not 9 coaches, it's 9 wins over 6 (i think) coaches.
Even though I don't think all 9 wins came against every coach after they had won a national title. LSU might have retro-counted that number.

Meyer('05 & '07), Saban('07), Fulmer('06 &'07), Spurrier('07), Tressel('07), Coker('05)
That's 8.... to my knowledge, we've never played USC, Texas, or Oklahoma. So unless they're counting Butch Davis' 2000 Miami team....

He beat Stoops twice: '01 and '02.
I guess they aren't counting that.

It'd be interesting to look at those numbers through his entire career. Did he ever beat Mack Brown?

I guess the 2008 South Carolina game never happened.

I noted it. Didn't feel the need to acknowledge it in the thread.
You win.
