It depends on what part of the campus you are trying to go to. BTW, many parts of the campus are closed to traffic so that makes it even harder to get to certian spots.

I usually avoid Dalrymple, but others may know a good way through there.

I tailgate out by the Vet school which is between the stadium and the river and it's usually fairly easy to access that area as long as you get out there by noon.

Coming from the Denham Springs area, pass Dalrymple and exit on Government street. Turn left at the bottom of the ramp and head toward the river. You'll need to negotiate a few turns, but your intent is to get to River Road headed south. There's a few extra turns between Government Street and River road so you'll need a map or GPS. You should find plenty of parking out there as well.

I'm not sure about the parking on River Rd, but if you want to avoid Dalrymple, this is actually not a bad idea. Pass the Dalrymple exit, stay on the right and follow I-110 (do not go over the MS River bridge!), exit at Government and get to River Rd. Once you find a spot on River Rd., hike down to S. Stadium where the Vet school is. In general, AVOID STREETS NAMED AFTER PRESIDENTS OR FLOWERS.

WildTchoupitoulas posted a map above which is pretty on target about the areas to avoid (mostly north of campus).

Crime after Katrina is still mostly located in the same bad sections of town, so you should be ok.

Hope you have a great time (except for losing, of course!).
