I for one, am not worried.
First off, the biggest problem we had last night was the kicking game. Personally, I'm hoping that it will be straightened out with a fresh Adderall scrip for GH and building chemistry between GH & holder. Keep in mind, new holder this season.
The offense will get there. So stop worrying about scoring 14. That's a fantastic defense we saw, and things will get to the point that we expect them to.
Safety play...wow. Malcolm and Roman have an obvious chemistry out there. Both lay the wood...and Malc's ball skills are sick. We may not need Sharper if Malc continues this level of play, and I didn't think I'd say that.
Last, and most certainly not least, was the fact that this defense was solid WITHOUT generating massive amounts of turnovers. Great sign, because once the offense hits its stride, watch the frick out.

We are just not used to see such a low scoring game. But you are definitely right, this is their first game and they come off a little rusty. A little drop pass here, a little panic-throw there by Brees, but nothing cant be fixed.

Saints beat the #2 or #3 team in the NFC and people are whining? The Saints were more in control of that game last night than during the NFC Championship game. It's not Madden, we're not going 16-0 and winning by 30 points each week. I'm more than satisfied.

I thought we played good against a high caliber team

Correct. There should be little to no complaining about the game last night.
The Vikings are an excellent football team, and they were playing for a cause: to avenge what they perceived to be an injustice perpetrated upon them in the Conference Championship game last year. They came to play and they DID play hard and did not quit.
I'm proud of the Saints effort, especially the Defense and Bushrod.

I for one am pleased to see us win a game against a quality opponent when we only scored 14 points.

I couldn't agree with you more OP, I for one am very encouraged by the defensive play last night.
@ Hartley especially because he's my fantasy kicker
I thought the offense looked good, brees had time, we just couldn't get into a move the chain rhythm during the middle of the game. I thought the O-line played great especially at the end of the game opening up the holes for Thomas.

I COULD NOT agree more! That was an old school, war in the trenches type of game that two years ago we would have lost. The offense was a little rusty and I have Z E R O concern about them getting that corrected in the future (watch out 49ers), and the defense played TOUGH with hard hits and bodies flying around all game. I for one am PUMPED about this years season!
And the O-Line, I don't even know what to say. Bushrod looked like a probowl caliber player...the entire unit was awesome...but we already knew that. Oh, and havin Heath back is HUGE, the dudes a load and he's gonna help our already dominant run game.
