Yea I used to play back in the day. There is a website and probably forums on that site where you can download pretty much any plane with any livery. Just do some Google searching and you should be able to find it pretty quickly. Its been a while since I've played. You playing MS Flight Sim X?

It is pretty good, but if you are planning on getting your private certificate anytime soon a CFI will strongly discourage its use. The negative transfer of learning is supposedly astronomical.

Really....I wouldn't have thought it would be that bad.

While it wouldn't familiarize you with the location of instruments I would think it would serve as a good basis of protocol practice.

Maybe it is because of you getting used to how the virtual plane handles and you can't translate it to real life?

I play around with this all the time.

Some sites I use are:

Be careful, though, If you really get into it, it can get really expensive. I can tell you the best plane I have bought as an add on is the PMDG 747, but that runs about $60.00. Not to mention the photorealistic scenery purchases you can make.

Good luck

I used to play it and I'm a pilot. Some of the add-on airplanes have fairly realistic cockpits. If you want to fly real airplanes it can be a useful tool for instrument flying. There are hundreds of free aircraft to download. The links above should have all the information you want.
