A big year from this kid. Or is it a year to early for him? I saw his name one the list of players starting or at least rotating in. I know he was a maniac in high school an hope he can look the same for our Tigers!

He should be obscene on third-and-long. There aren't many LTs who can handle his speed.

He'll be useless otherwise because he's too small.

Based on what I saw at the Spring Game, i'd say he's ready and will do big things.

I disagree about not being able to stop the run.. anything wide he will eat up.. If they run at him may be a problem.

I think he's really a tough match-up for any Tackle, just too much speed and quickness. Look for him to play alot, especially in the second half of games if the other team gets behind and has to pass.

So Mike, you think that he'll get manhandled n running situations?

I'm sure Verne will tell us over and over about him winning the 2008 name of the year award.

Will rank up there with Bowe getting Lasik and dumping his girlfried. It will be very tough to supplant the Herm Johnson biggest baby story ever. I mean, we had that awesome pick of Herm, less the a minute from the womb, looking like a 4 year-old. You cannot have a photo that can encapsulate the awesomeness of "name of the year."

BTW, Mingo shouldn't have won. If he weren't some fancy pants recruit, Velvet Milkman or Macaca Dang Dang would have kicked his arse. Bunch of rantards hitting "vote again" put Barkevious over the top.

Mingo in rotation and under certain situations is going to cause havoc. Anybody that is as fast as the RB's and that tall with those long arms is going to cause offensive tackles some headaches.

I think he will get manhandled in running plays, but he shouldn't be in on those plays when you have adams and agahyere with much better size. Let those two gring it out on the run and then wham, fresh legs Mingo beats the tackle to the edge. He can play a role like Kirston Pittman in '03.

We'll be very situational at DE this year. And I'm perfectly fine with that.

I assume this is directed at me?

I doubt he plays much in running situations. He'll be deadly on 3rd and 10+. My fear is 3rd and 5-7. A delayed hand-off right at him could be ugly. Especially if the outside backer is Francois. Two defenders, under 500 pounds getting blocked by a 325 lb left tackle, potentially a 240+ lbs. TE and a 230 lb lead blocking fullback could make a reality out of "third and Chavis."

What about next year. Is he still a situational player or does he puton enough weight to become an everydown player an become a Julius Peppers type player?

Idk we will put mingo in on a 5 yard third down with a heavy package like a Te and a Fullback.

Adams isn't exactly a glaciers, and he has some size to him

I doubt you'll see him in the game if the offense has a TE and a fullback on the field. I think it would have to be an obvious passing situation.
