p. manning and gore or...

I am in a 12 team league where the points are as follows:
Pass td 6
Rush td 6
10 rush yards equal 1 point
10 pass yards equal 1 point
Int -3
Def gets 3 points for sack, and 3 for int. 15 for shut out and decreases as the opposing scores.
I have second pick this Saturday, and the first pick will be Brees. I can take Manning then on the way back probably get Gore or Mattews. My other option is to take Chris Johnson second and grab a QB coming back like Kolb who has the potential to put up nice numbers. Do I take the risk, or go with the sure thing like Manning, and get a second/third tier rb. Mostly everyone in my league grabs a QB first and settles for a rb wr or def second.

I would laugh my arse off if I ever saw a defense drafted in the 2nd round
that scoring system sucks though. I'd prob still take CJ and get a QB with your 2nd or 3rd pick

I know, the scoring system is garbage, but these are guys from work that have been using it since they started. Your QB basically scores most of the points, however if you pick one 2nd or third and they turn out you can benifit greatly because of you consistant rb

Also the kickers get 3 points for each fg and a point for each ex point. And 5 points over 50 yards

we do 20 yds for 1 pt and I think my league is high for QBs scoring. Wow.

That's why qb's go quickly in this league, and is the main reason I feel I should take a top qb instead af the top rb

It is the way the points are awarded.in one game my qb can score near 70, and tops my rb will get me 30

Not necessarily. It really resembles real football by increasing the importance of good qb's and good defenses.
I don't think any scoring system is garbage as long as everyone understands it going in.
