Somebody just recommended this Polanski film to me as one of the best of the past few years...true?

Not even close. Now is it worth a watch? Absolutely

i enjoyed it a lot. I dunno about the best of the past few years, but you will definitely really really like it if you like that genre

No. It's not a bad movie, but it's certainly not Polanski's best. I'm a fan of Robert Harris and I read the book, so I may have been a bit biased because I thought the book was better. It's a good movie, but I was just a bit unsure what to think when I saw it at the theater. I need to watch it again. It's well acted, but again, I think my opinion might be colored by having read the book. Also Kim Catrall has a role that is just badly cast. She was a distraction. Reading this, I'm realizing it's not very helpful.

Is it like a political thriller?

It seemed a bit slow moving to me.

it is impossible for her to be a good casting decision these days.

I just watched it. I wish it had been made by Mamet instead of Polanksi. The Bush administration stuff was just absurdly ham-handed.
