I'm a fan of the fresh squeezed margarita from scratch. None of that sweet n sour mix. Anyways... I'm at city cafe for brunch. And the server, or I think bartender, recommends it to me n I'm always up for a suprise. It was on the menu but I guess just never paid much attention to it. I've never had a cocktail play with my palate as much. It's got cool/refreshing/ Lil heat/salty w each sip. He said it pairs well with my meal (chkn n waffles) but I think that dish had some heat in it tooo. maybe hot pepper. (I'm only an amateur food blogger)Not sure but it was good. J/w if anyone has ever had this concoction before. I doubt I'll go back to the ordinary margarita

I like Jalapenos and like a margarita on occasion but I would have a hard time ordering the two combined

The wife and I tried making this at home one night. The recipe was in the Food Network magazine. Maybe we did not make it right because it was horrible. It was way too hot and we could not even finish a glass. I would like to try it again, however if someone who knew what they were doing made it.

I'm with Bill OReilly on this one. I love jalapenos, will eat them with almost anything. And love me some good, frozen margaritas as well. But together?? I just dont see it...

I'd love to try though.

Boondock, do you know if it was actual peppers or if the tequila was infused with jalapenos? Im just trying to figure out if they muddle the pepper or if they use the infused liquor with it & just put some on as a garnish.

Don't know if this is any good, but it comes courtesy of the interwebz:
Recipe

quote:

Make a big batch of margaritas with a twist. Pulse 1 thin slice jalapeno, a handful of celery leaves, 6 ounces fresh lime juice and a spoonful of confectioners' sugar in a blender. Mix with 16 ounces tequila and 8 ounces orange liqueur in a pitcher; chill. Serve on the rocks in salt-rimmed glasses.

He muddled the lime n jalapenos together. I think the seeds n the membrane were taken out bc it had just the right amount of heat.

Drinking one now. Take a jalopeno and cut it into 1/4's - lengthwise. Take the seeds out - too hot if left in.

In a shaker glass (with jalopena slivers), add:

1/4 filled with ice
2 shot glasses of fresh lime juice
2 shot glasses of tequila (100% pure agave)
1 shot glass of agave nectar (very important to use agave nectar instead of sweet 'n sour or triple sec)
1 shot glass of water

Shake vigorously.

I was at Specs in Austin last weekend and they were giving out free samples of jalapeno rumritas and they were amazing. The girl wouldn't give me the recipe unless a bought the bottle of rum though.
