Hey why does OFF smell so bad?

Seems like there in 30 years they could figure out how to make it not smell terrible. Does anyone else know of a good insect repellent that is better?

because of deet i would assume. i used to have some deet cream a biologist gave me and the shite reeked and fricking burned like holy hell when you put it on. But no bites

they have made bug spray that doesn't smell so bad. my girlfriend always has it when we are on the boat
