I've seen some people hating on them. Do they not work as advertised? or is it a 'my brand is better than your brand' thing?

Ah, so they're cheaply made. Seems like every shirt I buy from Academy (save nike coaches polos) fade pretty quickly. I'll only be using it a few days, so I'm not worried.

I still wear them bc they are cool and dry quickly. Just don't expect them to look nice for a very long time if you are in the sun all day

The thing is, people wear them everywhere..not just to fish. It's not a "dress" shirt people!!

I wear the long sleeved ones to keep from burning up looking old, wrinkled and developing skin cancer.

It's not a fashion thing for me.

I pesonally think Comlumbia shirts are turrible.

The Magellan brand at Academy has a new style called Arransaspass(sp).

Best 'fishing shirt' I have ever worn.

BTW who the hell needs that many stupid pockets that add like 6 layers to your shirt across your entire chest. Seems one chest pocket, and reducing the bulk would make a better, cooler shirt.

I'm one of those people. IMHO you can't beat them when it's as hot as it's been lately. Or, I can wear a Polo with an undershirt and be sweaty by the time I walk in the door from the parking lot. No brainer for me.....

I can't wear them, too damn skinny. Even the smalls engulf me.

I stick to the PFG t-shirts, much more comfortable for me, and I don't feel like I'm trying too hard.

has nothing to do with trying too hard... It's ab comfort. I wear them bc you get wet in the gulf from time to time. I also wear crocs bc we have a wash down hose onboard and I have to get in the water to winch the nose of the boat all the way up on the trailer. Just makes things a lot easier. People on these boards talk shite but if they fished as much as I do they'd understand

I'm deep sea fishing off the Carolina Coast end of Aug./first of Sept. and the guy I'm going with says it'll be extremely hot out there.

I've never been.

He's said to wear shitty clothes cause we'll get bloddy and messy. I was thinking about picking up a couple of those Bass Pro fishing shirts that are cheaper than Columbia.

I think they're $14 each last time I looked.

Academy will run some deals on them as well. I have some from wrangler, magellan and columbia. Even the el cheapo shirts will get the job done. Allot of people down here get their business logo monogrammed onto the fishing shirts.

I find the t-shirts more comfortable, but that's just my opinion of course

And a part of me just feels ridiculous with a collared, button up shirt on while fishing. I know they are not dress shirts, but still...
