Deer camp in a dry county

Our deer camp in Mississippi is in a dry county. We go through road blocks several times throughout the year. We do not drink on the road trip(well the driver does not), but say a cop checks your ice chests. Will they take the beer, give you a ticket, or what. They have never personally asked or even taken ours, but I always wonder what would happen if they did.

Last year we had a job that was in a dry county and one of the guys was heading up with a 20 pack of Bud light in the back seat. He came up to a road block and the cops searched him. They took the 20 pack and told him that he couldn't even be carrying it. i think the cop was being a dick and just wanted to take the beer for himself, personally. But he did take it!

Same thing for us. They will take beer and sometimes ticket you.
Then they drink said beer. Thats why Louisiana plates with 4wheelers are always stopped in MS

Well we do it every weekend during deer season, It would really suck if they took all of your beer for the weekend

I do the same thing camping with my RV. Many of our favorite spots are in dry counties. I still can't figure out how prohibition laws can still be on the books in the US.

Here in Alabama, you are allowed possesion of In your home or transportation (as long as it is out fo site and reach of passengers) up to a case for personal consumption as long as applicable state taxes have been paid. This is how they get you for out of state beer. It has t ohave been bought in AL.

This is correct. We got ours taken going to Panama city before for this. Beer in several other states such as florida and Colorado are not as stong as beer in La. Beer in colorado is like 4%.

Sounds like a pain in the arse.
When we fish in Lake Fork we have to drive 30-40 minutes to get out of the dry county.

We make a Guys trip each year with family from TX and LA meeting up at either Toledo Bend or Rayburn. We talked about changing it up and maybe hitting lake fork....now that place is out of the question.

Even if the county isn't dry most outside places outside of LA make you go to a damn liquor store to get anything other than beer and wine those places usually have shitty hours as well.

I live in a dry county in MS and all it means here is that you can't buy hard liquor. You also can't buy anything on sundays. But they still sell beer in convenience stores and stuff (which means you have to leave from there with it in your car). I think some cops were messing with yall. Now open containers are a different story!

Wrong, a county can be dry but a city within the county can still sell alcohol. Once you leave the city and have alcohol you are breaking the law. Now I know where I'm from is ms they really don't bother you if you have alcohol in the county, but I guess it just depends on how much your cop got picked on in junior high. If it was a lot, you're fricked!

I moved here 8 years ago and it is a dry county. Have to go two miles across county line to buy beer or to Mccomb to liquor store for hard stuff. They can charge you with illegal possesion of alchol in a dry county, they threatend my son on way back from canoeing and made him pour it all out the whole ice chest. What I question is the passin thru of counties that are dry while traveling, I dont think its right to have all these different laws from place to place like that. How about beer trucks traveling from Hattiesburg to McComb as a example why can they do that? We just gonna move enough coonasses here to change the laws and I say we are pretty close now to having enough votes
