Sources close to the situation don't expect Carmelo Anthony to sign an extension with the Denver Nuggets this summer.
Anthony is leaning towards testing free agency next offseason, said sources. on the same day that the Nuggets made a front office shift, letting go of Mark Warkentien and Rex Chapman.

With George Karl recovering from cancer and having just one year left on his deal, and Denver letting good FO people walk, are they planning to blow things up? Carmelo traded by the deadline?

We can only hope, but if a trade is conducted this year what would Denver want from the Hornets in return for Melo?

You offer basically everyone other than Paul. He would have to sign an extension with us first though.

I think this is my new favorite board

He's still a long shot IMO. I think the Hornets would need to have a surprisingly strong start to the season so they look like the best option for Carmelo to win and he wants to come here. Unless he has a good reason to come to New Orleans he won't.
We really don't have much that Denver would want, I have seen one interesting 3 way involving Philly
Philly:
In Aaron Affalo, Songaila, David West
Out Iguodala, Young, Speights
Denver:
In Iguodala, Young, Peja
Out Carmelo, Birdman, Affalo
New Orleans:
In Carmelo, Birdman, Speights
Out West, Songaila, Peja
Philly gets the short end of that deal a little bit, so you might need to add picks, but it's close to a win win trade for 3 teams that could be looking for big changes at the trade deadline.

It would certainly have to be an aggressive trade for us to have any kind of chance. After this past summer, Melo will be the big dog when it comes to adding a new player

Hey people who are smarter than us might laugh at our naive hopes of CP3 luring him here.... but you can't deny this is step 1 of the Carmelo to NOLA Project.
If our youngsters step up, if West steps up in a contract year, if Emeka works that vagina this offseason and tightens up on defense (pun intended) and we somehow cheer up CP3 who knows?

I've been a negahornet so far this summer, but this board is really making me change my outlook. This is actually a decent roster, and we can be pretty damn solid if we put it together

The main thing that has been hurting the hornets is lack of decent play from a big...if emeka can give us anything more than he did last year we should be in decent shape

Towards the end of the year he couldn't even catch the ball...get that man some stick'em!

If Paul and Melo are playing together it'll be in NYC, not NOLA.
Paul could be a Mav by trade deadline.
2011-2012 Hornets best player will be MT5

Who knows? I know. If all goes well, 47-35 and 9th place in the West.
That's if all goes well.

Paul will not be a Mav. What makes you so sure the hornets wont trade for Melo?
Posted on 8/4/10 at 12:24 am to msutiger
I highly doubt they would trade him in their own division. The front office isn't great, but they aren't that dumb
