West Virginia Game

I've seen that a couple of us are pretty sure we get a win in this game.
Now I know WVU plays in the Big East which isn't respected as a major division 1 football conference, but they are coming off of a similar season to us. They finished 9-4 (5-2 conference) with a bowl loss to florida state. One of their losses was also to an Auburn team which we beat handily. In that game, West Virginia had 6 turn overs. 5 of the 6 were interceptions, 1 fumble. It was by far their QB's worst game of the season.
Here's a link to the game stats: WVU vs. Auburn Stats
WVU plays Coastal Carolina, Marshall and Maryland before coming to Baton Rouge. So it is likely they'll be 3-0, but untested. They have a good Sophomore QB in Geno Smith who is a well-respected 4 star player out of Florida. Also, they had a young defense and offensive line last year, so expect those guys to be better this year.
For LSU to get a W, we need to grab the momentum the home crowd gives us early. We may be undersized on the d-line, but we have the speed to attack their spread and contain Noel Devine. Also if we can generate a good pass rush, we should be able to force their young QB into some early mistakes. Our ability to score points will come down to how well we've developed this off season. I'm hoping JJ and JL have developed well along with the O-line. If we get our offense rolling again, we'll be a very good competitor this year in the SEC.
I'm not writing this game off by any means, but a 4-0 start for LSU could be an excellent launching pad towards a potential BCS bowl. I like our chances against WVU since we can match their offensive speed with our defensive speed. I'm only worried about stopping Devine.
Also, in case any of you want to see some opinions from WVU fans, here's some links.

I have a couple WVU friends, and we're all pumped for this year's game. The 'eer fans I know are just like us: hardcore football fanatics. I can't wait for this game.

I loved these two comments made on their board:
That guy has no clue lol. RS will be all over the place (I hope, lol).
Nice tiger stadium props:

I watched their spring game and they looked like either the O-line is weak or the D-line and backers are very stout. The only thing their offense could do was run with those big RBs they have. Sounds like a contradiction but actually the backs were getting YAC nearly every carry. It looked to me like they will be a run first team. Their quarterbacks were inconsistent across the board. They have one that they plan to use in the wildcat. He's young though so you probably won't see too much of him early in the year. This could turn into a huge win for us with a few timely stops.

#1 reason... because it is the most difficult stadium to play at in the country. I also heard from a Virginia Tech fan that will never go to a VT game in Morgantown again that he went down to the VT LSU game a couple years back and was never so uncomfortable in his life.

Yeah me too, but one game at a time, broski.
But I will say that the UNC game will be the first of two games LSU plays in Atlanta this year.

Our DL is undersized? I just don't see it. I like our size alright on the inside and our speed on the outside.. I see it as balanced.
I think Davenport in on obvious running downs is gonna be a huge help. Dude is massive at ~325 lbs. He's in the rotation at DT.

Undersized compared to past LSU D-lines. But I agree, they have the potential to be a well balanced group. I'm loving the speed potential. We'll see how year 2 in Chavis' system works out as well.

If LSU does not beat UNC and West Virginia handily, it will be a long year for Tiger fans and a short one for Coach Miles, who I think is great. These are two fine teams for the conferences they play in, but neither is a top ten, play-for-championships team. If we cannot manage these teams easily, the SEC will eat us alive. We will win both games by at least 10, and we'll definitely be in control. If not, we are in trouble.

We have overall talent and team speed on them and on 9/25 West Virginia I believe they get to find out what the real Death Valley is like (This is not Kansas Any More!). Just like Virginia Tech found out there is no place on earth like death Valley on a Saturday Night!
I think we
that booty real bad!
I Say!

I think we

If your o-line is opening holes like that for Devine, we're in trouble.

WVU fans are less confident in Bill Stewart than some LSU fans are with Miles.
