Sounds like a line from "Hogan's Heroes".
Hayward is stepping down and BP is assigning him to a joint venture project with Russia.

I haven't seen anything official except from articles with "people close to the matter" or an "anonymous government official" as the source. While it's likely that he will step down, it's not official.

Dude will make millions, with his U.S. connections & Russian disregard for the enviroment. Laughing all the way to the bank

I agree. He'll do well..and not under the burden of a Socialist regime trying to control him.
I wish him the best of luck.
I mean..did he punch that hole? Did he personally turn off the alarms? Sorry folks...there's gotta be some responsibility at the rig level still.

Banished to Siberia was the first thing I thought when I got the blurb today. Good luck sailing your yacht through the ice.

Yeah something like 18 million severance package. To those that hate him I guess you should now be really pissed.
I couldn't give a rats arse what happens to him one way or the other. He hasn't performed will in his job with the media that is for sure. But if he is losing his job because he tried to explain that BP was working as fast as it could because he wanted his life too... just emphasizing that BP has not interest in dragging this incident out, then that is just sad.
Sad that people put so much emphasis on quotes taken out of context... enough to get him fired. I realize that wasn't his only mistake... despite the fact that it is 100% true.
I think it is sad that so many have jumped Obama's case for not showing more emotion or visiting the gulf sooner or more frequently... as if that has anything at all to do with how the cleanup and relief efforts are doing.
Now just to be clear I can't stand Obama but I just think it is sad that he gets more crap over the unimportant stuff than his actual crappy handling of the matter.
Plenty of blame to go around so how about we jump their shite for stuff that they actually screwed up on. Nah, never mind, that would be asking to much. Continue, carry on old chap!

Well personally I think Obama just went to Louisiana for a PR stint. His visits were weak and self-centered. I still feel Bobby Jindal's words were truer and he was more concerned with the situation at hand.
But I will add...King Zero had his gaffes too. He expected Tony to stop his life for this situation..but did the King? Nope. He played his golf game just as scheduled.
Double standards?
