LT 78 Joseph Barksdale 6-5 315 Sr.
LG 68 Josh Dworaczyk 6-6 281 Jr.
C 64 Patrick Lonergan 6-4 300 So.
RG 60 Will Blackwell 6-4 300 Jr.
RT 72 Alex Hurst 6-6 324 So.
Depth
79 Matt Branch OL 6-6 272 So.
76 Chris Faulk OL 6-6 316 Fr. RS
74 Josh Williford OL 6-7 336 Fr. RS
65 Elliott Porter OL 6-4 280 Fr.
70 Evan Washington OL 6-5 287 Fr.
53 T-Bob Hebert C 6-3 285 Jr.
75 Greg Shaw OT 6-5 301 Jr.
Looks like a decent mixture of youth and experience. It will be interesting to see how well Barksdale works on the left side. I also think LSU can really run well to the right side if Hurst and Blackwell can keep up their mean streaks.
Please add and/or correct me if i'm missing anything.

T-bob is back on the team, add him for depth

I will say this.
Things are setting up very nicely for a run in 2011. We are going to lose a total of two starters off the offense (Barksdale and Tolliver).
In addition to that, we won't lose a ton of the defense either.

I think we will be stronger and more experienced.......but if we add Robinson to this years class it'd be safe to say it'd be the best OL haul in LSU history based purely on potential and size.

I expect Williford and Washington to push hard.
I expect Hurst to be our best OL.
Barksdale HAS to get tougher !
I feel great about Josh and I think he is over 300 now.
Blackwell is a good ball player.
Lonergan/T-Bob is sketchy to me...

Greg Shaw is still on the team and I'd think would see time before Porter and Washington

Add Greg Shaw (tackle) 6-5 301 JR. to the depth chart. Solid depth this year. I'm still nervous about Barksdale at LT. He's going to have his hands full this year.Hopefully the switch isn't too painful to watch.

i would have hoped he would make more of a push for playing time after 2 years in the program

Most college teams prefer to redshirt their incoming linemen, I think that is why Shaw would have a leg up on Washington, Porter, and Fordham.

well, seeing how he wasn't great at RT last year, I think this is a very legitimate concern.

I've been reading good things about Lonergan. Why are you sketchy on him? Just curious.

I've never really understood the handling of Shaw. he played the 1st game of his career against App St, then no more as a true fr. I'd have thought they would have found an "injury" to get him a RS for 08. might be good to do it now, but then they might think they got enough guys between the youngins and the ones on the way. but can you have too many OL?

you have Branch and Faulk and your second string OL. i think you have a good opportunity to get Shaw to redshirt this season. perhaps he won't go for it and request a transfer. perhaps that is not why the staff is going that route

quote:Agree, certainly much better than last year. We are going to have to have some nasty O linemen in order to have a successful running game. What I will be looking for is aggressiveness and some reports from fall practices that they are getting into fights with the D line.

Did the O-line get that much better with him starting? Serious question. Was he better than T-bob the entire time?

No concrete reason.
I'm just worried that we will not be bullish up the middle.
I also want to see some separation between T-Bob and lonergan.
Lonergan got the gig after T-Bob's injury, not because he was the clear favorite.
And i was not impressed with T-bob.
So...

Lonergan's benefits were negligible compared to T-Bob's from my observations last season.
The main reason so many arm chair linemen toute PJ is simply because he is larger........
I think the OL will be significantly improved and playing on more of an SEC level this year. Star power? No. Stable performing? Yes.
