Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported this morning:

C.J. Uzomah, 6-foot-6, 240 pound quarterback at North Gwinnett, was scheduled to visit LSU today and will likely make a decision this week between the Tigers, Auburn and Florida, coach Bob Sphire said.

What makes Uzomah's situation intriguing is what position he might play in college. LSU has offered him as a pure quarterback; Auburn has offered him as a hybrid receiver-quarterback who would take shotgun snaps in the Gus Malzahn's "Wildcat" formation; and Florida has offered him purely as a wIde receIver.

From what I've heard unless he has an outstanding visit he's Auburn's to lose.

LSU is insane if they take Uzomah as a QB.

Totally insane.

I think you know the drill. They will let him try, then move to TE/WR. No biggie if we lose him, but nice depth at TE for the future.

He would be a QB project for his redshirt year.

Depending on what else transpires with Zach Lee, QB recruiting, injuries, he could be a QB in a pinch in a couple years, but assuming Z. Lee stays and we are able to bring in another quality QB he would likely end up as a receiver unless he really suprised people when he got here.

For what it's worth, a rivals article last week about some of the top uncommited prospects said "Sources indicate that LSU leads for Uzomah."

Maybe so, since we are the only team apparently willing to recruit him to throw the ball. Probably similar to RS last year, but the good thing is that we can work him at QB some his redshirt year in practice, and move him his RS freshman year. Unlike RS, where he basically lost half a playing year practicing with the QBs.

shep was used correctly last year. he was recruited as a qb and the only way he was coming to LSU was if he had a shot at qb. we gave him his shot like we promised him. nothing wrong with how that was handled.

I'm telling you guys in 3 years Uzomah could be a serious QB. But he could be a sick TE/WR replacement for Deangelo Peterson, which is probably what will end up happening.

I don't know who is high on the LSU board but I don't see how we can take 4 wr (landry, obj, lewis, p. turner) and then take uzomah if we feel he will end up at either wr or te. the numbers are supposed to be to tight for that. right?

Lewis is looking like a safety, Uzomah is a TE.

I have a hard time believing Uzomah will ever be a WR. IF he doesnt pan out at QB he's clearly big enough to be a TE.

The dude is a legit 6'5/6'6 and 230-240 pounds right now.

I've seen him play and I cannot see him at QB...period. He is playing QB now because he is an outstanding athlete and his coaches want the ball in his hands every play. Think Sam Gibson. Or Paul Turner on steroids. Or Spencer Ware, who also played QB. In fact, Spencer Ware is as close a comparison as you can get.

The guy is an amazing player to watch...he is fast (incredibly so for his size), has great moves, great field vision, he can cut, he can break tackles, good ball skills. Athletic specimen.

No one really mentions this, but I could definitely see him at RB in addition to TE, WR. He would probably make a killer LB or S as well.

Truthbetold, have you seen Uzomah's highlight video's? He can move a team. He makes quick decisions and throws accurately. He can also throw the long ball. No, he does not throw a football in the classic pro style, but neither did Tebow. He just gets it there.

I viewed his videos on Rivals, and therefore can't link you to them, but he does look very effective. However check him out on this link in a 7 on 7 competion and tell me you don't want him at QB.

if lewis is a safety, then we have lewis, martin committed. offers out to d. jennkins (who should commit soon) and the collins kid (I don't we will take his commitment) from miss. seems to leave raven on the outside for now. I thought we were in on ronnie martin and lyons and need to leave room for one of them

I have too and I can't disagree more. He just needs to be developed there. He isn't a freshman starter in the SEC but with a couple years work could become a really good SEC QB.

He went 153/257, 1723 yards, 14 TD, 4 INT throwing last year and had 109 carries for 710 yards and 10 TD rushing. That's playing in a tough AAAAA division in Georgia against teams like Norcross, Collins Hill and Peachtree Ridge.

We'll see how he does this year, they play a pretty tough schedule including non-region play of a team from CA, a team from AL and Lassiter who is normally a good AAAAA team themselves in GA.

If we are the only team recruiting him strictly as a QB, than I don't see how we let him get away unless he thinks he'll be a better TE in college or something.

Personally, I would rather go after Brissett harder, and hope he can work some magic with O'Leary and get him here too
