Looks pretty cool. Its being directed by the same guy who did Super Metroid. Click on the video link on the right side for the video preview.

i've had this game since SAT.

it is really good. For the most part in 3rd person (which is how Metroid should be, yet I like the Prime series) with spinkled in first person.

The graphics are insanely good for a NON HD and the controls are a bid awkward (hold wii mode like d-pad sideways, and point at screen for first person)

but the game is AMAZING.

esp if you are a metroid fan.

I don't like the thought of controlling a woman. I'm a sexist pig when it comes to my video games. I want to be a manly rugged bowed up awesome B.A.

I've had the game since it leaked on Friday as well. To me, the large amount of cutscenes and cheesy dialog just dont feel right, but the gameplay is loads of fun. Overall, the game isn't as good as Metroid Prime, but its a lot of fun if you're a fan of the series.

I got the game yesterday and thought it was OK. Too much dialogue at the beginning of the game and don't care for the way you switch from 3rd person to 1st person. But I'm sure with time, that won't be too much of a problem. The game is fun enough to stick with it, but hasn't blown me away yet.

OK, this game has officially blown me away now. The mini boss and big boss fights are epic and I feel like something is always lurking around the corner. Love this game so far. Plus, once you get going the cutscenes become fewer and shorter.

I'll take the opposing stance as usual.

The characterization of Samus Aran in this game is unforgivable. Since her conception, she's been a badass bounty hunter with no remorse. A female Solid Snake, if you will. She's saved the galaxy numerous times due to her cold precision and professionalism. In this game, she's a whiny, moping, codependent, milquetoast, self-doubting weak female lead who needs Adam to keep her motivated.

It destroys the legacy of a character who is the prototype of a strong female lead unlike the ones the rest of gaming is saturated with. Congratulations, Metroid. You've defeated the purpose of Samus Aran.

ETA: The gameplay is all right and the wonderful visuals in this game (best on the Wii) make me wonder what other Wii developers aren't doing to make the most of the hardware, but the raping of Samus Aran and her excruciatingly long internal dialogs of self-loathing are too much to handle.

Having never played a Metroid game with dialogue before (last game I've played from the Metroid Series was Super Metroid), I don't see that big of a deal with her character. I'm just glad to have a 3rd person Metroid again as I get dizzy playing 1st person shooter games.

I just don't see how any fan of samus can accept this depiction. It's a complete betrayal. Maybe if you're not the biggest metroid addict, it's not so bad. But this character is the video game version of bella swan.

I also hate how this game tries to be metal gear solid wii with the overlong cutscenes and layered conspiracy plot. Hideo kojima is a genius writer. Whoever penned this shite is not.

The story and Samus' characterization is why the game got mediocre reviews. But the gameplay is lots of fun and is the game's saving grace

Got a copy of the game here and have made it to Ridley. What the frick was that cut scene about. In the Metroid Timeline, Samus has faced Ridley like 5 times already. And she literally turns a 3 year old girl when facing him (literally). frick this.

The game aside from the story is great though.

In 2010, i just have a problem with shitty plots. This is a legitimate story-telling medium now. Better to have a minimal plot like other metroid games than fail at this super-complicated and overwrought attempt at a sci-fi epic.

It is a big deal. She's a remorseless killing machine. She doesn't just puss out (no pun intended) in the beginning of her fights. If Ridley comes, it usually just pisses her off and nothing more. SHe doesn't cry like a 3 year old. Samus is like Link in that she isn't supposed to have that much spoken dialogue, if any, at all.

And you're doing yourself a serious disservice by not playing the Metroid Prime games. If you can get a hold of the trilogy on the Wii, then its certainly worth your time. Its hard and it just keeps getting harder and funner.

Yeah, if you know you have a crappy plot (which Nintendo has never really excelled at) then make the plot secondary. I mean the Mario series plot is probably the worst in video games, but it has so much gaming creativity and awesomeness that it just forgets about the plot. The worst Mario game (Mario Sunshine) was plot oriented and it just sucked. All the other ones the plot doesn't matter at all aside from saving the Princess.
