you give all the credit to others and all the blame to Miles.
Yeah...I'll give credit to the seniors that lead the team to the NC. I'll give credit to the supporting coaching staff that made the X's and O's happen. I'll also give credit to Miles for managing to win the NC. It's no easy task.
However, I think a pogo stick could have been the head coach and managed to win 8 games that year.
All the guy has to do to win games is bring in top-talent and hire a few assistant coaches that will make it work...a lot like Mac Brown. I'll give him credit for doing that, for the most part (we'll see with GC). Other than that, it's somewhat apparent that he doesn't do much else.
Tell me positive one thing he contributes to the team out side of being a recruiter and a personality.
There's something to be said about recruiting and being a figure head, but there are TONS of other coaches out there that are better coaches.

One game doesn't mean shite. You're basically saying the head coaches of UAB and ULM are better than Saban.
Saban has proven he has a difficult time getting his team prepared for games vs non traditional football teams. UAB, ULM, and Utah. All used finesse and being better prepared to win.
Miles problem is the opposite. His teams can't seem to beat good football teams anymore. Its more of an indicator where the football team is, at the present point. IF LSu beats a UF, Bama or hell, even Ole Miss this year peoples attitudes will change.

Who below Mullens is hands down a better coach than him? Again this is an opinion piece, but to say these ranking are ridiculous is simply not true. It's not like someone has CLM ranked up with Saban or Meyer.
And to add to this, I don't see other schools lining up to try and steal Miles away from LSU either. THAT SAYS A WHOLE frickING LOT!

Team just finally ran out of gas after what they had been through. Although i think Miles did try to sit on the lead. Forgiveable
Agreed.

Refgate...refs took away atleast 2 scores. Not sure how this was Miles' fault either way.
Miles tried over and over and over and over again to run the ball. Didn't realize until the 4th quarter that all he had to do was pass. Refs did screw us over big time, but we should have went to the pass sooner.
quote:
Not really sure how these are Miles' fault either. Do you remember the 4th down play against Arky?
Against Kentucky, Charles Scott dominated in the first half and had 99 yards rushing, in the FIRST half. Mysteriously, he only got two carries in the entire second half, one of them being in OT.
Against Arky, LSU had a 7 point lead and Casey Dick dropped back and had all the time in the world thanks to a lack of blitz, and hit his fricking FB for a first down.
Both of these losses are on Miles.
quote:
But their hands were tied at the QB position
If their hands were tied at QB why did they rely on him so much? Scott had over 100 yards (I believe) and on 3rd and 2 in OT, we pass to the end zone with a QB who already threw 3 picks?
Stupid playcall.

The problem is Miles' attitude. He has a lack of urgency, 'it's just another game' type of attitude. And it rubs off on the players. He needs to treat every game as the most important game of the season.

IMO, the biggest head scratcher in Miles tenure. Not playing RS in the UF or PSU game would be a close second. Even more than the end of the Ole Miss and PSU games.

LSU got lucky as hell and that team should have gone 9-3 or 8-4.
But they didn't

and the offense put 38 points on OSU after being down 10-0. Guess you forgot about those two factors
You just said Miles didn't coach the offense.

i agree w/miles position. i woudnt put mullen @ 3, but he out coached miles in his 1st yr w/less than stellar talent. once again, the national media is saying what we are starting to learn. miles's image is quickly tarnishing. "CLOCK IT!" (FKIN D BAG!)

And whether YOU want to believe it or not LSU was VERY lucky to get into the NC game.
Any team that plays for the NC has to be very lucky. LSU 2003 NC team backed into the NC game on the last week by edging out USC by .16 in the BCS standings because of major upsets the final week of the season. If it wasn't for luck, we would have never played in the NC game in 2003.

No...but the last 3 offensive plays for MSU should. If Miles had called that last offensive series ya'll would be burning shite in his front yard.
This is very true........people tend to overlook other coaches screw-ups and dwell on CLM's. I guess it is his persona that makes him an eassy target.
Miles does seem to have more than hisd fair share of Gaffs......

BLASPHEMY!!!!!!!!
KILL the non-believer!!!!!!!!
We were N/C in 2003 due to supperior coaching.......in 2007, we lucked into it.

Come on now. Obviously LSU was lucky to play in both needing certain teams to win in the last week to get them in both years, but anyone with a brain knows that they were far more lucky to get into the 07 BCSCG with 2 losses than in 03 with one.

I know what i said....but since Lee seems to think everything was won strictly because of the defense i decided to throw it out there anyway. Either way...he's wrong.
