scored as a result of horrid officiating? What the frick is this bullshite game they're trying to get us to like? I dislike soccer the more I see this bullshite. I'm still a half-arse fan, but they lost a lot of my fandom this tournament.

Oh, and to clarify, the goal kick awarded to spain should have been a corner to the Dutch, and the're really no way any non-blind person could have seen it otherwise.

did you not read the post? There have been numerous games this tournament decided by one goal that were a direct result of horrible officiating. The one goal in the final is one of them. Other matches, like US matches for example, were decided by a goal when the equalizer was disallowed for some inexplicable reason. It's pathetic.

Ummmm... the final definitely wasn't one. The goal kick was a missed call, but Holland won it right back.

Right no call on Elia's weak attempt to get a foul and then Holland playing poor defense.

Where did the official give the game to Spain?

Yeah, I am 100% neutral, but Iniesta was definitely onsides and Elia did not deserve a free kick.

The corner/goal kick was terrible but it had a minimal impact on the game.

As a lifelong American football fan, I'll say one thing. When I watch soccer I don't have to sit for three and one-half hours watching one hundred and fifty commercials. Non-stop action baby. Two forty-five minute (real time!) halves. I love this game.

a corner versus a goal kick? Are you serious? The ball near the Spanish goal, as opposed to it starting past midfield... how the hell can you say Spain would have had the same chance of scoring off a NED corner as a goal kick?

I read your little rant.

I'm waiting to hear how the goal was scored as a result of "horrid officiating".

As far as the corner ruled a goal kick, do you really think that the outcome would've been any different had it been awarded? Those odds aren't very good. All 11 Spaniards would be in the box. It's highly unlikely that they would have scored. To make a big deal out of that decision is silly and just shows you lack perspective.

The Dutch (read: Robben) can blame themselves.

I'm not saying NED would have scored, dipshit. I'm saying Spain most likely wouldn't have.

Because they were awarded a goal kick?

Considering Spain's style, it would probably have been easier for them to score via counter from a corner than to run their standard offense from a goal kick.

Again, you lack perspective for blaming this on "horrid officiating". The Dutch lost because they blew several opportunities to finish, couldn't help themselves with respect to drawing yellows (and red), and faltered when it mattered the most. You are seemingly the only person on both TD and the vast interwebz insinuating the officials were "horrid" or changed the outcome of this game.

You clearly don't like the sport. You don't have to pretend you do or understand it.

Obviously Fiddy is a Nederlands fan. Only he and the entire team is complaining about the officiating.

You should be thanking officiating.

Netherlands should have been down to 10 men in the 1st half after that blatant attempt to impale the Spanish player with a cleat to the chest.
