Are there any big name quarterbacks for next years class in LA

I'm just wondering if we are ever going to produce another 5 star qb from LA. We had some dominating ones in the past with Josh Booty, Peyton Manning, Ryan Perrilloux, etc. but we haven't had a dominant one in along time. Also, why do yall think we suffer producing stud qbs when Texas, North Carolina, Florida and other states produce blue chips every year. I know the obvious response will be Texas and Florida are bigger but they still produce a ton of awesome qbs.

In most Louisiana High Schools the coaches put the best player as their QB. That's why R. Randall, T. Reed, E. Duecet, etc. played QB in HS.
Louisiana HS football is all skill players and lineman. Not a lot of LBers or QBs.

Louisiana has a long history of producing blue chip QBs. The last 10 yrs have been very dry. I think many potential QB prospects are opting to play baseball.
You also have to take into account that so many people have had to leave La. the past 30 yrs to find decent jobs.

I wouldn't call NC a qb factory but qb's in Louisiana don't have the kind of coaching in some of the aforementioned states.

Quinton Wheeler - Ouachita - will be a junior this year.
Keep an eye on him.

Really? I don't know if Tommy Hodson was highly regarded, but since him Josh Booty, Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, Ryan Perriloux and John David Booty have been the only blue chip QB's I can think of. And that's since 1993. That's only 3 over the past ten years.

Brock Berlin And Eli mannin are two more over the last 10 years
at that rate, elite QB ever other year, and this has been a relatively dry spell
Still not bad

you can add robert lane. he was pretty highly recruited/five star guy.
Major applewhite was a quality qb coming out, so was lester ricard, p. dees, Jamie howard, and craig nall.

Forgot about Brock Berlin. That's four over the past eleven years. And in all honesty, it was really four in a short span ('99-'05) with a dry spell the next five years ('06-'10).
The OP just said Blue Chip prospects, so I was just looking at the blue chip/five stars.

ok, if that's the criteria, (five star) i think most states have a dry spell then.
I do know lane was five star, dees four and ricard four.
i don't remember if howard, nall, and major were three or four.

ok, my bad. i thought the #1 rated dual threat qb would have been a five star. regardless, surely a player ranked in the top 36 in the nation would be considered a blue chip.

Again, that was just what I was looking at. I remember the hype on Lane being big at first, then everyone was thinking he would end up being at TE or a FB or something.

Be on the lookout for Damian Williams out of Rummel in the next few years. Took over last season in week 8 as a freshman and performed pretty well for a bad Rummel offense.
He's about 6' 185, has an extremely good arm, and is very calm in the pocket. Still has 3 seasons to grow and get better.

If you look at the history, Louisiana can compete with almost any state when it comes to the great QB prospects it has produced over the decades.
One of the reason's you don't have as many is because of various reasons. The main reason is because hardly any programs in this state have coaching staffs that know how to develop and scheme a passing game and commit to keeping it strong year in and year out. You won’t see many coaches throw the ball and really get after people with the passing game unless they have just some really gifted kid and he just goes out and does it with raw ability. If you had more coaches that knew about the passing game and how to groom and develop QB’s you would see a lot more come out of Louisiana a lot more often.
Louisiana is long known for old school, smash mouth football (which is perfectly fine) but it is a big reason why our state produces far more running backs and athletic types. The reason you see states like Texas and Florida and California have so many good QB’s is because yes they are bigger states but also the passing game is emphasized dramatically more in their high school programs than programs across the board here in Louisiana. Those states from an offensive point of view have been very progressive for a while now. Their are a ton of good coaches in these states as well that never rest and are always working to become better coaches and learn how to be better teachers of the game of football.
