An offense more suited to JJ's strengths.

There have been numerous threads about the QB situation, some think JJ is the answer, some think JL is the answer. Others think that Zach Lee is the second coming and we should build a statue to worship and sacrifice our first born to keep the QB Gods happy.
It's clear that JJ has the most experience and he makes the least amount of mistakes. He has some great, and not so great, qualities.
My question is how can we tailor an offfense to fit his style of play and take advantage of his athletic abilities? What offensive scheme currently ran in college football might JJ excel?

I think a pro-style offense that uses more play actions and move the pocket more. Of course you have to be able to run the ball much better for play action to work. He is just not good at picking up hot recievers and his release is slow.

JJ is perfect for a run first offense that does not rely heavily on QB play. Everyone who bashes JJ really should be bashing the coaches for not running a scheme around JJ.....which I know was kinda hard to do last year with our shitty OLine.
But if LSU comes out this year with the intent on running right down the other team, we will be fine.
The problem is Crowton. I have no idea what he wants to do offensivley, but his system is better off with Lee.
If LSU sticks with a power rushing offense and uses the run to set up the pass = Jefferson
If LSU continues with Crowton's scheme (whatever that is) of relying heavily on QB play = Lee

i'd guess a spread if we could have him get the ball out easier. if not, a pro-style

we've tried a true spread option and it has not worked well. JJ isn't a good runner
he's serviceable and could produce like mauck or flynn, IF he were used in their roles
crowton and company have basically said, "hey JJ you're fast, so we're going to make you a primary runner" and this has failed

You JJ bashers crack me up sometimes. The kid had a 60% completion percentage. He obviously knows how to make the right decisions. He just needs to make them quicker. That comes with experience. We should hopefully see improvement from him and Lee this year. No more excuses.

Because FR QBs often have done oh so well in the SEC.

As long as he doesn't have to make a decision.

Block the guy in front of you the way the play calls for it to be done.
That offense will make JJ look like a QB this year.

I've watched him play several times and I have yet to figure out what his strength(s) is(are).
Maybe someone has seen something. If someone has seen something please post it and we can start there.

I agree and having him run the option is not the answer. He obviously doesn't want to learn how to do it correctly or just doesn't want to run it.

I agree with a spread offense but the bottom line is the OL has to block someone this year

This is the problem. The things that make him good can also make him bad. For instance;
He doesn't take chances with the football and thus doesn't throw as many picks. But because he doesn't take chances, he misses big play opportunities and holds the ball too long.
I would have to agree that a power run game will help JJ out immensely. I don't think JJ is the cog that the offense will turn on(like Mallett), but if the supporting cast can perform better, his performances will get better.
