Dragging out his death?

Man, I'm just pissed they didn't pair his death with Shark Week! Now how awesome would that be!

Those guys are going to be back. They are moody little frickers. There is no need for both of those guys to be on the boat for Opie season. The younger guy works the deck for king crab. But for opies the older guy sits there. Why not stay home? That boat is there life. They have no life outside of that boat. He just wanted to go fishing. Those guys wont quit.

Plus Mikey won't be back to take over the boat. He bought his own boat.

And the son who's wife left him is no where near ready to take over.

i guess it would be a spoiler, but what happens to the cornelia marie? are his kids keeping it?

also, i get the feeling some of these guys own their boat and some are capt's who just run it?

and i agree, the hillstrands will be back. no way jonathans son is ready for that. seems like the brothers could just rotate thru the season. but i'm sure it's part burnout and part for the show.

I don't know if Phil was the owner of the Cornelia Marie. When he had the stroke, one of the first things his son, Josh, said was "I need to contact Cornelia. They need to know we are captainless". (not exact words).

My fiance thought he was referring to Phil's wife, but the context of how he put it made it seem like Cornelia was a holding company for the boat.

It said in parenthesis "(Cornelia is the co-owner of the boat)". I assume Phil was the other co-owner.

eta: from wiki- the boat is owned by Cornelia Marie Devlin (née Collins) and prior to his death, Phil Harris (who served as captain).

yeah. he's talked like the boat was his during repairs & stuff in the past seasons. he may have had a partner or something like that. i did catch josh saying that too.

i didn't think phil was married either? (seem to recall things said from past seasons)
