Maybe Just The Heat....

but for the first time in two years, I actually am bullish on LSU Football. I have been an outspoken critic of Miles and have stated that I would not be surprised if they only win 5 games in 2010.
However, maybe because of the arrogance of Arkansas, Auburn and Bama fans, maybe because the nation pundits have written us off, maybe because of the heat outside, but I am feeling like LSU is going to make a run at the west and maybe much more.
No inside information, but I hope and feel that this LSU team will take great offense to the fact that they have been written off and will take UNC to the woodshed as a result.
That game is very key, IMO. We win it going away and it sets up the rest of the season.

I don't think the UNC game is as key as people think. This team may take some more time to gel, how they play at the end of the season is much more important. LSU could lose to UNC and still have a good season. Its the first game of the year.
Losing to WVU would be devastating.

I think the LSU offense is going to be much improved this year. (And not just because it can't get much worse). We've got #1 receivers at every spot, more beef on the O-line, blue chip tailbacks 3 deep and a QB who I think will improve with the added muscle up front. Last year was tough to watch, but it wasn't a disaster. The football nation is sleeping on the Tigers right now, and I think we'll all be pleasantly surprised with the product LSU fields in 2010.

Why do I have this feeling that the opening kickoff national stage game like the LSU/UNC kickoff game is going to have R.Shep showcased like crazy?

It could only be "key" in a negative sense, if we lose it. Win it, and we're still likely looking at 7-5. Lose it, and 5-7 is very possible.
And as for winning it "going away", that just doesn't happen at LSU any more. Not even when we're playing the likes of Louisiana Tech.

P.S. I have now realized that it is impossible to start a thread that shows any sign of optimism without the usual tards coming in a shitting all over it. Anything positive must be dealt with swiftly and harshly.

LSU doesn't go 5-7. They don't go 7-5 either. I think regular season is between 8-10 wins. I lean towards the 10 win side of things. I think we play a lot of close ones this year that will come down to how much improvement the offense has made over the off season. The defense will be stout. Tennessee is going 5-7...LSU is not.
