What would PAC 1 do if Texas Schools changed their Mind?

If Texas schools decided to revive the old Southwest Conference wouldn't the PAC1 be screwed? I don't think there are any other big markets to go after. Or if the SEC landed Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma and one other Big 12 school.

Invite Utah, BYU, Boise State, Colorado State and Fresno State.

Keep the BYU/Utah rivalry.

Keep the Boise State/Fresno State Rivalry

Add the Colorado/Colorado State Rivalry.

Plus they would be adding to non-BCS schools that made BCS bowls.

Plus prove Boise State does not own you like they have so far.

Invite Utah and call it a day. After the Salt Lake market, no one else comes close.

Why do you think the Mountain West voted to wait on Boise Monday, then invited them Friday, the day AFTER CU left the Big-12? They knew they needed a replacement for the Utes.

Utah: Yes

BYU: Never. Won't play on Sundays and Cal and Stanford won't have a religious school in the league.

Boise: No. Community college academics. Not enough people in Idaho.

CSU: No. Just got the Denver market with CU.

Fresno: No. See Boise.

Without the Texas schools, and after Utah to make 12, the next four candidates are:

New Mexico: Albuquerque TV market, decent academics
UNLV: Vegas market, hoops
SDSU: San Diego market, will someday be decent in football
Hawaii: Honolulu, market, decent academics.

I was under the impression that Utah and BYU wouldn't join another conference unless they came together.

The longer this plays out means the less chance Texas/Oklahoma go to PAC 1.

Those two schools hate each other. Utah would like nothing better than to give BYU the shaft, and rake in enough money to finally supplant them as the #1 football school in the state.

Albuquerque TV market does not seem like a selling point. This is more of a sports expansion than a academics expansion.

The vegas market is a tourist market. I don't think many people flip there TV's alot when visiting. Plus when is the last time UNLV basketball did anything?

Might be the only one of the four. Stay in California. You include San Diego in the PAC 10 which eventually will make recruiting interesting in the southern california.

Hawaii: Honolulu, market, decent academics.

They might as well look at Florida State too because that is about the same air time it will take to travel for games. Hawaii is screwed for the BCS unless the MWC expands and includes them.

Everyone knows this is more of a sports and money thing.

Boise State, Utah and BYU add tot heir football.

Utah is a bigger basketball school than UNLV.

Fresno State has had some good football teams and again every California school added will make recruiting more insane with kids knowing they will still play the big schools but get more playing time.

I think adding the Colorado and Utah schools along with Boise State and Fresno State is about their only option if they lose all the Big 12 schools.

I don't think any of the non-Texas candidates justify splitting the pie 16 ways instead of just 12.
