That if A&M does goes to the SEC, that their spot will likely go to the Utah Utes.

No problem with that at all

Pretty much thought it would be Utah or Kansas........but this really sucks for Kansas.

How does Utah offer more than Kansas? Since Pac-10 is picking schools in random locations, might as well pick up Kansas over Utah. Kansas is a basketball power and won't hesitate to join if asked.

kansas may be tied at the hip to KSU
when this stuff started to go down Kansas and KSU agreed to work together closely no matter what played out - and sent letters to Nebraska and MU asking for the same type of arrangement
IMO Kansas probably does offer more than Utah overall (tho Utah football has been slightly better lately Kansas basketball is one of the 4 or 5 best programs in the country) but being tied to KSU is the issue

basically the publishers of the site said it would come down to one of the other, out of Utah and Kansas, however if it was picked today it would liable to be Utah.

I guess the Salt Lake TV market is bigger than any in Kansas that the Jayhawks can claim.....perhaps?
Posted on 6/12/10 at 6:40 am to Dr Drunkenstein
probably not the issue - kansas and utah markets are pretty much the same
you can argue Utah makes more sense as being more west coast or SW USA than Kansas - but I think money and KSU are the more obvious issues

The Orangebloods publishers also say another negative thing that goes against Kansas was the recent scandals with Mangino punching his players and the bad blood between the basketball and football teams aren't helping their case that much.

I think the KU campus is only 25 miles from Topeka and 40 miles from Kansas City. With those 2 cities in their zone of influence, I'd figure it would be a wash.

FWIW.....I was over on AggieYell which is A&M Rivals site, and the are split down the middle which way they will go, so really no ones know for sure.

On TexAgs it's heavily weighted to the SEC. There's talk of a palace revolt if they go to the PAC.

Utah makes more sense to me for the Pac Con than A+M. Sorry, but I'm still hung up on teams actually being in a general region. and this would actually be a good rival for Colorado.
