Why wouldn't the big 12 try to pull in these two. It may help to keep Texas and aTm.

When UH was left out in the cold after the SWC collapsed, their program dwindled. They don't belong in the Big 12, last years success notwithstanding.

If they are trying to keep the conference together what other schools are left?

Texas and Texas A&M already deliver Houston.

UH Football is a drop in the bucket in that city compared to the two big state schools.

Same for DFW.

So by adding those two schools, they are not adding any new territory.

Well the current Big 12 may not have a choice anymore, but I think it is more likely the teams left over in the Big 12 will end up in the MWC.

I actually like TCU and know Gary Patterson. I think he's done a tremendous job with that team and IMO the SEC should invite them to join. TCU would play well in the SEC.

Regardless, UT and TAMU own this town. TAMU is pretty much like the local team.

sure it is, but since Houston is WITHIN Texas, its not an additional viewing market.

True. If Houston high school seniors can get into either school, they pretty much go. Houston and Dallas are both huge student pipelines into UT and A&M.

Houston is preparing to make its move to get into a major conference (revamped MWC perhaps).

Big 12 should take from Utah, Boise State, TCU, Houston, BYU. I think they go with Boise and TCU if they need 2.
