You don't think guys like Gibbs and Ranaudo are leaders?

Again, very talented ball players, but no I don't think they are good leaders.

You don't start 32-6 and then go 4-14 with good leadership. We were not GREAT this year, but we were very good. Much better than a 4-14 stretch, especially getting embarrassed by Tulane and UNO.

That kind of slump doesn't happen to teams with strong leaders.

I think Dean and Gibbs are leaders, but they were not vocal. I think they tried to lead by example, but I think a great team always needs at least one guy who is an emotional guy who can also lead by example (Coleman). I thought Ranaudo fit this profile, but it's hard to be a leader when you are hurt for most of the year, and then you come back giving up 9 runs a game. How can you tell your team to do a better job, when you are not doing one yourself?

I always thought Mahtook has the makings of a great leader, but if he has personal issues, i can see where that can make it hard too. Hopefully next year we have some guys who can step up on and off the field.

The 2009 national champions had a couple of "embarrassing" losses as well. Did they not have good leadership?
