I still dont see any oil. I have heard reports of tar balls washing up West of Mobile, a few birds with oil but have seen none here yet.

I am currently in Destin and I can tell you its being talked about quite a bit. Went to eat and they were piping in the vhf weather channel in the restroom which was giving the new expanded closure. Also mentioned oil spotted miles off of Pensacola.....I did not catch how much or how far.

You either have to be a member of the media or have to really be looking for bad news

Work and Coach in Foley. Live 15 miles down Ft Morgan road. I can smell that crap coming. Heard on the news it was just miles from Pcola beach today. I am boycotting BP for the rest of my life.

Thats strange because I was working about 75ft above the oil sheens for 12 hours today and nobody could smell anything. Is your nose equivalent to that of a bloodhound?

Please keep the updates coming. My home is two miles from the state park on Beach Blvd in Orange Beach. I am still stuck in California.

Family has condos in Ft. Morgan and Destin. I am very sad. Do you think condo owners will have a case to file a lawsuit if the oil reaches these beaches ? If so, based on what grounds ?

I'm in Destin now and the oil seems to be the talk of the town. So far, the beaches are gorgeous. There is quite a bit of seaweed from the beach out to about 30- 40 feet into the ocean. This morning I did notice one of those huge barges with living quarters a few miles off shore. It was heading west. I'm not sure I'd want to come to destin in a couple of weeks, as it seems like the oil is eventually going to make it here.

Yeah, just got back from Destin Monday. Everything looked beautiful and the beaches were even packed again. Just hoping that things will be ok ... please keep us updated.

Where are you staying ... keep us updated on what the word is on the street over there please.

Tidehater, how bad are the beaches around there? Can you give any updates on Dauphin Island? We have a beach house rental there and supposed to be going over there in a couple of weeks. No one really seems to be taalking about D.I. just p'cola and destin. Thanks.

tidehater, the guy in your pic looks like he'd be a good one to discuss the health hazards associated w/ oil ( is that valentino?)

it's bad that the ones affected most by this are just as helpless as those who's incomes aren't as dependent on the gulf

Tidehater. I am right there with you. I am on the beach right by the statepark but stuck in California. Thanks for the update. I knew this day was coming but I just kept hoping that it would some how skip over us....

Absolutely, loss of earnings.

I met a condo owner in Gulf Shores last week. She told me a couple canceled so she decided that she would use the condo for the week. She said she's already been told she will get paid for every cancelation.
