I really doubt it's about money here. If it was we wouldn't be going to a 1200 capacity stadium.

Well...since there are only 16 regional sites, then that would mean that a team with an RPI of 17 or higher would likely NOT be a No. 1 Regional seed, thus, being at best a No. 2 Regional seed.
So, LSU's seeding is consitent with its RPI.
As for where LSU is playing...that is likely because of the SUB .500 conference record.
LSU did not earn any deference.
