The damn MGM lawsuit sale situation forced him to quit because he has other obligations.

i wonder who they get if PJ still doesnt want to direct it. I wish he would just do it

I don't see anyway it comes out in 2012. Nothing to do with the Mayans either.

Good. Maybe they'll ditch the "let's write a story of the 60 year period between The Hobbit and Lotr based off his extra writtings".
I'm a huge Tolkien fan and am as ready for the Hobbit as anybody, but that was a really bad idea IMO. Split the book in two if you want two movies. That wouldn't be hard at all.

I think it is too late for that. I think the stories are already written or at least pretty close to wrapped up.

The Hobbit by itself is not strong enough to be a great movie.

I dont know. I didn't click the link bc my phone us dying but if the projected release is 2012, they have time to change it.
Stick to the book, it's not that hard. Can't go wrong with that.

frick that. I was about to start a thread about how MGM are a bunch of pussies because they are holding back one of the greatest franchises. They need to get there shite together. I need this movie!!!!

With a good cast, Peter Jackson and the book split in two. I have no doubt it would be a good movie.
Not trying to hate, but why isn't the book strong enough?

Theonering.net won't even open. People are probably going crazy. That's where I get my info on lord of the rings

The link on AICN to the ONERINGNET probably overwhelmed it.
Lacour
You are freaking crazy. The hobbit could be a great movie all by itself.
