Jefferson Parish bused work release program workers

To the cleanup. About 300-400 workers on Jefferson parish school buses and so happened when the president was there. They
were on the beach cleaning up. And they were instructed to not talk to the media. I am not blaming the president on this, but it seems kinda fishy they left after the president left the beach. Is Bp trying to create a positive image?
Will Jefferson parish bus these work release workers everyday? Seems fishy.

Do we know who gave the orders in JP govt?
Posted on 5/28/10 at 10:10 pm to MoreOrLes
They just had a parish councilmen from Jp on CNN, and he wants answers.

I think it was JP buses, they could have rented them.

Very legit question....However, I'm sure this will get swept under the rug as the Top Kill results will dominate the news soon.

A CNN reporter stated they were work release workers. Granted I don't know if it's true.

I saw two JP councilmen on WWL-TV. John Young was very sarcastic about the timing of these "workers" showing up. Chris(?) Roberts was a little more diplomatic, but expressed his outrage at this publicity stunt.
I highly doubt that these are work release prisoners....
I'm pretty sure that while labeled "Jefferson Parish Schools", JP school buses are privately owned and operated.

YEP
But its not the guy who rented out his busses it who ordered and paid for em.

I'll go out on a limb and say nobody in JP Gov't gave the order. JP is no happier w/ BP than Plaquemines Parish. I don't know why they'd do shite to make BP look good.
These guys were hired by BP for Show & Tell.

Boom white roach. You said alot with the last statement. Carville ripped Bp on this today. I am a conservative, but you gotta love carville sometimes. Dude freaking loves this state.

I'm guessing that BP, or one of their subcontractors, contracted w/ the individual owner/operators to haul their day laborers to the jobsite.

I don't agree w/ most of his political positions, but I'd never want to get in a debate with him. He's the kind of guy who can take either side of a case and present a compelling argument.
I read one of his books about 15 years ago. It was titled something like "We're Right and They're Wrong." Great book! I didn't agree with 90% of his positions, but he made you think about the reasoning of his perspective. (And, he's a funny SOB.)

The title of that book is why i dont like politicians or their direct operatives. He's married to a big conservative. And All married men know their wives are right even when they are wrong.

I guess the CNN reporter was talking out of her arse. Typical.

I got there about an hour before they finished up. There were busses of volunteers that were there late into the day as well. The beach looked spectacular by the time Marine One landed in Port Fourchon. I walked the island for about 5 hours, and couldn't find anything unusual. I planned return every couple weeks for a photo documentary, but I'll never arrive early enough to justify 7-8hr round trip drives. Without a boat or assistance from a local it's an unproductive trip.
Here's a few pics....

These photos are really good! Not sure if you have more like this of the coast or the wetlands. You send some to forthebayou.org. Liz is putting together plenty of photos from Louisiana citizens.

FWIW, WWL tv said those workers were hired by BP in Lafourche and Terrebonne in the last two days. I don't think they were JP work release inmates.

just a side note, I was watching CNN and Anderson Cooper I think asked someone, maybe a person from BP, I didnt catch who it was why did the workers leave in the afternoon. The guy basically said it was very hot outside.

the locals were pretty convinced they were inmates doing a standard cleanup...and the early morning group had a lot of "official supervision." The group that hit the busses later in the afternoon looked like your typical youth group volunteers. It was really hot, the afternoon group went back to the busses after the thunderstorm rolled in.
