Anyone know how far into Barataria Bay the oil slick stretches?

So if I'm reading that correctly (dates and all) then there is already oil pretty far in and more on the way?

I wish someone had some actual pictures from the area around Barataria Bay... would be interesting to see a first hand view.

Thanks for the links...

I'm specifically looking for any current pics from the Myrtle Grove area... my buddy is out of town right now but he has a camp down there. Curious to see what it's looking like.

Sadly I believe so. Here in Terrebonne Parish there has been oil reported in Madison Bay (Montegut) and Lake Robinson (Chauvin). All fishing is closed in Terrebonne south of Lake Boudreaux. I am hearing of bushels of crabs going for over $100

ETA: If this shite doesn't stop coming north and it gets into the Intracoastal Houma is fricked.

I heard this today. I also heard that some oil/sheen got behind some locks down there somewhere because someone didnt close them. Have you heard anything like that?

There isn't a lock around south LA that completely seals the interior basin. They are all "leaky systems" that will allow communication around the lock structures.

ETA: most lock chambers are left open only on a falling tide do to saltwater intrusion.
