that if they cap this well, then they can't ever tap into it again. Thats why they keep dragging their feet until the relief well is drilled so BP doesn't lose the $billions the well is worth? Why don't they have option # 7 standing by if the previous one doesn't work, why wait until "next Tuesday"?

They may not be able to tap into this well, but they could drill another well and tap into the same oil reserve.

this particular well is probably fubar-ed.

but the reservoir may still be viable depending upon its size and the damage that it incurred during the blowout.

Yeah, I am sure BP loves extending this longer every day just to try and save a well. The dialy clean up cost is millions and the lawsuits just keep getting bigger and bigger. It would make no sense financially for them to be doing any of this so they can save the well.

Get someone who knows this stuff to run the numbers for you. It would be fcking stupid and make no sense whatever for BP to be dragging arse to save a well.
Where is my black helicopter and tinfoil hat button.

Isn' the well worth much much more than the cleanup? So if they capped it tomorrow, they could still tap into the reserve, say a few months from now, or is it done after that-whether it be legal or environmental issues?
